I'm completely detached from social media so unless he's saying some outrageously racist stuff I do not care.
He's the boss in charge of everything. You SHOULD care. A ton of the biggest flops of all time were eventually revealed to be mostly the fault of clueless, incompetent, and/or unknowingly malicious leadership.
Social media is not my concern, his personal views are inconsequential.
I'm not terminally online unlike some.
Given that Moon have previously released two award winning games prior, I'm not worried.
Yes it will still come out. Don't worry about not buying it yet.
Have you been in the official Discord of the game? I have, and its , well how to put this, without being mean? A bunch of kids in college fanboying over Thomas and his amazing talent, waiting hopefully for a glimpse of his genius, while not saying anything or talking about anything related to the game. That`s the discord for NRFTW. A bunch of guys talking about nothing and when Thomas comes online and speaks, everyone asks a bunch of idiotic questions and wants to suggest something to be implemented in the game, the latest one being "lets add smoke when we kill crabs that way we blind them and it`ll be cool". Sorry , mate but that is hardly game development or EA, that`s just kids being idiotic and a game developer who to my surprise, listens to them. I went on discord to get a response from Thomas in regards to the update of the game, I got the most evasive response anyone can give. Mind you, this is the guy who we gave our money to develop a game, and listen to suggestion from players and the community. Too focken bad that the community is only the "Discord" where he is the king and all the kids there are the plebs, the rest of us, on steam or other platforms, are not included in the EA. I also asked how is he going to recover the lost players he had back in April, since most of the people left, again his response:
"Nothing needs to be revived 😂
We're in Early Access and we're doing fine. We're not a GaaS title, we don't care about daily active users and the likes. We didn't base our business model around selling players microtransactions. All we need to do is to use Early Access to finish up Wicked and then sell 1.0 in the best shape possible on all platforms. If we do that well and we'll ship a good product, people will buy it. And if we don't, they won't. It's really as simple as that.
I understand that you're annoyed with the lack of updates recently and I get it. But ultimately we've shown our hand, we updated a bunch and now we're in a situation where this update took longer than usual and we had our publisher go belly-up. It's unfortunate, sure, but we have huge plans for 2025 and we'll announce all that soon."
This was from Thomas (creative director of NRFTW). In his delusional mind, he updated a bunch on this game since its release, while blaming the publisher for going belly up, like that is an issue with you developing your game. Remember the "belly up " part , happened in November, last "update" if you can call it an update (the crucible) was done in July. That`s almost 6 months gap between update and the publisher going "belly up".
To me , personally, its a bunch of crap, but hey , guess we`ll have to wait and see,.
And on a side note, there will be no update in January, there will be a teaser trailer in January in regards to the new update, but not an actual update in sight.
This again a response from Thomas on Discord:
"We're not releasing Breach this month, no. We're building up to a bigger release again due to the situation we're in. So for January please just expect a teaser, not a full trailer or the actual Wicked Inside. We're still putting the Wicked Inside together atm.
Even if we wanted to, we couldn't release an update right now because the whole Private Division separation isn't done on paper yet. I know it's frustrating to you folks to have to wait - it's just as frustrating for us since our livelihoods are dependent on this, but we have to go through the proper process.
And again, ultimately the wait atm - while annoying - will be okay if the update we ship is great and that's what our focus should be on. There's a ton on our table for 2025 and Breach is just the start, we're obviously already working on a lot of the stuff that comes after that internally.
I'm saying all this to keep expectations in check. We'll elaborate on why we had to be silent during the Wicked Inside and will go over our plans obviously.
And yes, after Breach shipped, we'll obviously go through a period again where you'll see a lot more patches, hotfixes, etc. to tune things we might have missed based on stats and player feedback and I'm looking forward to that."
These are all the news in regards to the state of the game. I`m sure it`s being worked on, at a snail pace and we will probably get to see a major update by mid/late 2025, until then the game is dead, because lack of updates and lack of communication from the devs.
Basically what we have now is just talks and promises and nothing concrete in terms of updates or anything like that.
I suspect the next 'big' patch is actually going to be a whole lot of fluff. Their plans are meaningless because roadmaps are a joke now and they've clearly shown an inability to stay on track to begin with.
If they don't come out with the best patch ever to exist with more content itself than the game released with, they are going to get ridiculed even harder. And if they don't follow it with a very consistent and and consistently meaningful patch rhythm, their game will die.
What this dev doesn't seem to realize is that you don't get from alpha to 1.0 through a portal that somehow turns a bad game into a good one. Ask Wayward and many other games how that turned out.
Right now people have a ton of issues with their game and don't think it's particularly good. It might be a niche little fun time for soulslike youtubers to milk once, but compare it to several currently EA games that are overwhelmingly positive and beloved by their small EA communities.
Heck, look at Ender Magnolia in particular. Also few updates and a barebones EA by intent, but what's there is amazing anyway and they have great, consistent updates. Same with Fall of Avalon.
Wicked is kinda a joke by comparison. I've said it before, but they clearly misunderstood the purpose of early access and are doing a terrible job using it that's actively hurting them.
And you're not going to magically release a 'good' 1.0 when there are a ton of things people don't like about your foundation. This game is already sitting at mixed. That's not true for any of the mega-successful EA titles.
Again, go look at Ender Magnolia releasing next week into 1.0.
Sorry bro, english is not my first language.
I know and you are absolutely right, but on their Discord they seem really confident this is going to work. To what extent, we shall see, when the first update hits (probably summer this year).
Look at Manor Lords, also EA title, 2.5 million copies sold to this day, and keeps going up, why ? Updates, updates and more updates.
I said it, and I`ll say it again, this game, doesn't have a bright future if it keeps going like this, no matter how confident the devs are.
