Cloth vs Plate Armor
I just got to endgame all while equipping any cloth armor that raised all my resistances. It was a headache at times, but I overcame these challenges.

My question is how does Plate Armor feel compared to cloth?

I was thinking about storing my current cloth and switching to Plate to try out, but wanted to hear some opinions on it first.

If you have full plate and exalted with good traits, like healing increased based on durability, defense increase. You can even withstand 2-3 plague arrow attacks and combo whirls from echo knight, being sure to be at full health.

Cloth is light-weight and has good resistence to elemental damage but poor armor
Plate is heavy-weight and has good armor but poor elemental dmg resistence

nah plate armor doesnt work against elemental damage. Plaque crossbow attacks and enemies with infused weapons etc become annoying. I dont feel much difference with the stagger, poise. Only big difference is the arrows dont stop you you can charge and kill them but jumping enemies, large enemies still easily knock you out even throw you out from the edge in crucible. Leather/mesh armor hybrid set probably the best mid ground for elemental, poise and physical defense. With damage buffs, oils, rune damage buffs, those 25-30 stat points you used for load capacity makeas a huge difference almost your damage is halved.

So in my opinion its not worth it. Plate armor must be buffed.

The knockdown attack that comes with being heavy weight is nice, it works well with my weapon so I run with plate since it doesn't matter as long as I'm not over 100%

But I think the right answer is to use a blend of everything to achieve balanced armor and resists, IMO.

I use a Mix myself, Plate Chest, and cloth/armor mix. You want 14-16+ poise out of anything. (works thru most of game up till Pestilence stuff) then doesn't seem matter how much poise you have during that stuff.

poise is your friend thru most of game, allowing you to tank a hit and keep attacking.

I'm at 35% reduction, and Cerim Chest is Near half of that on its own. (14%) rest of my gear is Cloth. (Just under heavy rolling...)

I wonder if anyone tried plate chest, mesh pants and rest cloth!

Thanks for the replies! This will surely help when analyzing my current gear.

I am in full plate with great shield, and just started end game. Must say I am surprised at the amount of damage I can withstand even in boss fights blocking is pretty powerful.
But I am pretty sure there are better builds out there, I just enjoy being a walking tank for now :)

just mix it - that way to get balanced defenses.
