If you're willing to learn how to dodge and parry, and accept that learning enemy attack patterns is part of the experience, you'll have a great time. There's a lady in town who sells some martial arts runes if you really want to lean into it.
Also, if you like the special attack on one set of gloves but prefer the appearance of another, you can strip the rune from the gloves you don't like the look of and add them to the gloves you want to wear.
If you go with Heavy Load, you can R1 + L1 to push the enemiges, it sends them back a lot and is easy to push of ledges. Also free skill, stamina based. Also stuns most big enemiges, like that bounty monster in the War Room. But you have to like being a tank.
Also nice if you get lucky and get the "negative" stat that places you in the Heavy Load state on an enchanted piece of gear that allows you to be in a heavy load weight class regardless of your true encumbrance, sure you perm fat roll but it also means you always have access to the shoulder bash for free and as a side bonus, your encumbrance is basically ignored, you can be as overweight as you want and still always be heavy load. something Very overlooked, so you can ignore your max weight stat and pour it all into main stat and HP/Stamina.
They exist in different stat combination too.
Minor down side is some dark dungeon you can't hold a torch (but can just cast illuminate spell anyway)
Monk aka Fist + Cloth im playing are nice BUT Focus gain is not good one the Start Weapons. Total viable for campaign and use some techniques like Salto Kick which use Stamina and no focus.
