No Rest for the Wicked

Hotfix Feedback
First off -- Thank you for the backstab improvements. It has made a significant difference.
I can not overstate how much better the combat is with backstabs. Having fluid rolls into backstabs is one of the best feeling things in the game.

NGL I would like to see more item mods that make it even easier to backstab / backstab enemies that can't normally be backstabbed... or maybe some of the rune skills / weapon types have more things to do with backstabbing so that I can just make my entire playstyle revolve around visceral attacks for all enemies. It really just puts that big a grin on my idiot face.

Suplexing enemies is also extremely satisfying. I'm pretty sure if my neighbor hears me yell something about "catching hands" or yelling John Cena's intro music off tune one more time they're going to club me to death with uncooked fish.

I also super appreciate that the weapons seem to have static damage values on their tooltips now, and that also brings me joy. Getting low damage weapons felt like remembering that you left your shoes outside, and then realizing that a cat has peed in them.

I do have some other feedback regarding the combat, that I think would make the game much more fun.

1.) I strongly think this game needs a riposte/parry visceral attack. If I do the hard part and land a parry -- I should get my reward. It's quite disappointing to parry an enemy and then get denied your reward because you can't get behind the enemy or because you took a bit too long to get behind the enemy/couldn't find their backstab angle. I just wanna stab them in the front butt man. Let me have this.

For me, it would be enough motivation to risk going for parries WAY more often if I knew I was gonna get that sweet sweet suplex afterwards, regardless of my positioning. It doesn't even need some crazy new Riposte animation, just make it so the backstab angle is 360 degrees and auto run my guy to the spot he needs to be in to grab booty. I want my dopamines.

I think this is important simply because it's fun. It just feels good. It's big smiles.. and really it's why we play games. Let me forget that my dad went for milk 30 years ago and never came back. Let me forget that I need to mow the lawn. Let me forget about the IRS and the 45 minute daily "scrum" that should just be an email... because right now I get to suplex this guy into next Tuesday. It's just fun. We need more of that in games... and when you guys lean into stuff that is just simple fun, it legitimately makes the world a better place.

2.) Enemy Stagger -- I think lighter weapons need some better stagger damage. The Dual Daggers specifically are what I was testing -- They're not as front loaded as something like the Greatsword.. so getting instantly hit by an attack right after hitting the enemy is a bit frustrating... especially when most of your damage is in the 2nd and 3rd hit of your combo. I suspect Greatsword users will try to wear heavier armor with poise and are going to trade hits more, but for a light armor / fast attacker -- getting that stagger on an enemy is way more important (IMO anyways, you guys do you.)

3.) Artemesis Herb. We need more sources that drop these. I am always running around with like 60 mushrooms and 60 crabs, and like 4 herbs. Would be great if some enemies dropped these.

This is long enough so I'll cut it here.

TL;DR -- The Hotfix made a huge difference. Thank you very much for getting that out quickly. Backstab changes made the combat SIGNIFICANTLY more fun. Appreciate the changes to weapon base damage, and increase crafting mats dropping. I'd like to see Ripostes, better stagger damage on light weapons, and herbs dropping from enemies, I'll make another feedback post when I get further into the game.

Appreciate you guys communicating on these forums, and the rapid fixes.

there already is a riposte, they're called rune attacks.

every time you parry, you get a flat 100 focus, which is enough to cast most runes in the game. try it out.

But what if you have focus draining curse on equipment?
I think Sekiro-like mechanic where you fill the enemy's posture meter and only then you able to riposte will fit great for this game.

after hotfix the game totally the same annoying frustrating experience as it was
I feel 2handers should have more stagger and 1handers less, because you can spam so many attacks within the window and then roll out. Use the feastering 2hander at the moment because you can ramp up the damage really high, but i do not stagger foes much and it feels weird :)
Add blink into your rotation and you can continue your combos with Hit 1- hit 2 - blink - hit 3
