No Rest for the Wicked

Hey I'm Stucked In Cave With No Torch
Cave in Lowland Meadows and everything is dark when the torch run out. How to get out because I can't see anything. Is the game this much stupid?

The worst part about this is if you build you character for 2handers.....good luck throwing on a 1h weapon for your torch. Very bad design decision imo.

try turning your monitor brightness all the way up

I use a 2h weapon and a torch in my offhand? All you do is just press your switch weapon button and your torch is out.

There are also runes that create a light that follows you

I mean I can switch weapons easily, but why make the game like this. It's already hard to find path, puzzles are everywhere...And there's no way to return to the town, unless you have a Return spell, which I don't have. Really frustrated...

It won't work. I try everything in the Display tab. With 110% brightness I can see just a little bit but it's far from enough to find the way out.

it's worse if you are using HDR.

I hope they add a light as a trinket or something, some areas are far too dark for hotswapping to a torch.

Really don't understand these dark locations to be honest. If they want to have dark areas, give us a lamp or something. I get the idea for immersion, but not at the cost of quality gameplay.

all methods to light darkness with 2h

1. illuminate rune, buyable from the enchantress
2. get flamescale oils and use them every 60 seconds
3. put a chipped ruby on your weapon

The rune is useless if you have no focus, not to mention it costs like 50 and barely stays on for a minute.

Luckily I restart the game then enemies respawn and kill me quickly. I'm so happy to see my hometown again. But seriously Moon studio needs to find away to warn new people about this.
Just so people know you can upgrade the torch and make it indestructible

Inless a patch fixed that, they removed the ability to enchant torches.

Focus food isn't hard to make, and spell isn't a hard cast. Time wise... move your ass then?
I joke... the spell last way to short.

As for being Stuck, you can exit out of game and use go to last whisper option during Realm select. And then go back in better prepared.

I don't mind dark zones, spell could last longer.. I get part of gameplay loop is hitting stuff to build focus and managing it. Spell could be better.
The Darker Zones could be better too... I assume will get more extended ones later.

2nd weapon slot with spells is what I tend to use. (also to switch up play styles time to time)
I am ok with the dark caves. It's not that I love them or find the idea amazingly creative, it has a certain old school vibe to it, where you had a real disadvantage if you played a certain kind of class/char.

However, there are several ways of dealing with it, as mentioned above. I also built" (enchanted and upgraded) a second weapon I use just for cave exploration, with the Illuminate rune (or put the fire enchant on it). It's not as strong as my main weapon, but its strong enough to fight the enemies there.
If I happen to be out of focus when I need to cast illuminate, I always have some food that replenishes both health and focus, so I can gain some focus that way.
have a 10int gnarled staff with return and illuminate and fish skevers at hand
Loading the realm by holding down the left trigger + pressing the A button.
This will make you start at the last checkpoint.
