So "true" ranged play style is just no longer a thing now? With this change every play style is now forced into melee as you need to melee hits to build focus. This creates a problem for lighter Armor "classes". Magic already suffered from this hit and run play style now bows are in the same position. Wouldn't be a problem if you killed things faster with the added danger but you still do just as much damage as someone in full heavy with a 2hander able to take some hits. They need to balance the squisher "classes" better if they are going to force a melee play style across the board. Also what do you do, just wack enemies with you bow now? "I'm too weak to shoot my arrow but strong enough to hit you with the bow" lol breaking immersion for balance is silly.

Edit: All these concerns are mostly early game where the game is the hardest. You can become busted at endgame like most ARPG's this game is unique as it's alot harder early game than most ARPG's and focuses more on player skill.

A combat overhaul is planned in the future, maybe that will change.

Yeah, I'm bummed about this as well. Also noticed that the dagger pairs are being weakened as well. there goes my dual daggers + bow build that I found to finally feel like I can manage this game.

I'm willing to wait it out and see if it doesn't feel awful...it'll depend on how much focus you use for each arrow, I think. If I can fire 10 arrows with 100 focus, I'd be OK with that.

Been a year since I played, is there no secondary weapon set slot? I can't remember. Ranged is a pretty powerful tool in a game that's meant to be challenging so personally I don't see anything wrong with having to get your hands dirty here and there.

From the patch notes it sounds like the light armor side of things got some buffs:

Quickstep now has more i-frames than medium roll
The player no longer gets slowed after performing multiple consecutive Quicksteps
Upgrading armor now provides a flat bonus regardless of the type, which means that it is much more worthwhile to upgrade Cloth and Leather armor

Issue with arrows costing focus is they did not say they increased their damage so now your bow basic attack is fighting for the same resource as your focus abilities that do heavy damage, so in theory you will just not use the basic attack as it wont be worth it.

Bow builds were OP anyway but I very much doubt they will make them useless.

good. now you have to actually play the video game instead of getting infinite free projectiles. that should always be the case. range is earned, not given

Yea. I was confused when I found a bow super early on. "Where are my arrows!?!?!" I'm not really sure what the point of this was, but it seems like the bow was never intended to be a primary weapon. I think coming out and saying that more explicitly would have been better, but its fine.
didnt it have focus costs at the very beginning anyway?

Whether it was intended to be or not, a lot of people have had a fun time playing bow and progressing no faster than melee players. I'm playing melee mage this time and i'm going much faster. If it's not broke don't fix it. Some of us wanted to play archer ig

Yeah, I think I will give up this game just because of this change actually, unless the parry experience is improved.
