My armor and weapon is upgraded to what is current in my game and has gems.
I am not using any negative affix gear atm.
As for the respec being in crucible, it does seem weird because crucible is very unforgiving in how it scales. And that is only the first set of crucible fights. If the others get more difficult then there can only be a few builds and weapons that are viable in crucible.
I feel that the crucible needs some attention to how approachable it is rather than worrying about where the respec will be.
But also maybe respec shouldn't be in the crucible as crucible seems to be nearly end game styled content.
Luckily even with a bad spec you can probably fake your way through enough replays of crucible to get the necessary points and then get to the seneschal to do the unlock. Respec though is not the best solution for someone that ended up throwing their points around too much. If your character is a mess, it actually is easier to restart.
You can pretty much flip your entire build at a whim by just changing your blood code and gear.
However, in the meantime, there is some weapons that only require 10 of any stat, that you can level for now. I was able to get quite far with a couple of those before deciding I wanted to respec.
