No Rest for the Wicked

Equipment storage problems - Housing chests improvements
So this is my equipment (weapon/rune/armour) storage building
https://imgur.com/BDVjb9b 11 big chests, 14 medium chests
Note: Some chests are not visible since they are directly under the camera on the second floor

Problem: It is still not enough if I want to have any sort of organisation in place, and to keep the building looking like a storage, and not like a can of sardines.

You may ask, "Why?" It's simple: testing new builds and using different weapons on different characters, to have reference what runes are from what weapon, fashion, just in case for the future, etc...

Solution: https://imgur.com/EXvpbuH
Add more slots to the chests, there is plenty of space for that

What are you even keeping?
I get 1-2 of most of weapons, and barely have a few large chest full. (5weapons in storage house and 2 for armor 1 for rings)
My main house is half deco/ half item storage, (1 for legendaries, 1 for spare armor I'm trying) wood/ore chest, food/ food parts etc.

Keep best Stam/Focus use/Gain, Stat/weight Req versions, Sell the rest.

You can reroll enchantments with embers now. Not much reason to hoard to many of one item anymore.

TLDR: its not just weapons, but also all armor pieces and RUNES

IRL do you have all your clothes, boots, accessories, and elctronics, all in 1 big (trash)pile, or do you have them sorted in different cabinets etc all acrous your room/house?

That's why I said that I want to have some sort of organisation in place and there is no sorting for chests so far and even if. So, one med chest for bows, one for shields, and so on with some weapon classes combined to one chest to take less place, the big chests are for armour sorted by class, and for runes.

Every equipment piece has 2 copies, one mastercrafted and one corrupted.
+ Runes take so much space since they don't stack so they take any free space left in the weapon chests.

Sure, I could just throw everything together (its not liek there is much of free space tho, because of the runes), but then we are back to the (trash)pile.

The hoarding is real holymoly. I just keep 1 set of mesh and cloth armor for future rerolls and have a realm for a shared rookery stash for legendaries and rings.
I have 3 fully exalted chars, who did all content on their own, and currently building a 4th.
You do you, but why keeping all of this, since you can reroll stats.
edit: Each char has a stash in their home for food, the ressources are in the rookery.

you can rerol stats sure, but each weapon has a unique moveset, each armor has unique look and defenses/resistance/weight,
And you cannot reroll from cursed to mastercrafted and vice versa. So that alone is 2x of every weapon/armour

also each ring has 6 combinations of resistances (only has 2 out of 4 resistances, randomly picked) that cannot be re-rolled so thats a couple chests too, for when you need to optimize your resistances

also, with weapons, I want to know what rune comes from what weapon so I need them all for reference (wiki out of date)

What do you mean with cursed and mastercrafted?
Well ya the ring resists are nice to have, but if a char is just obliterating the content, it is enough for me, even if the resists are not perfected.
If I see a new weapon, I simply try the moveset and if I don't like it, I just threw it away.

Cursed is the violet item with 1 negative enchantment.

Mastercrafted is white item with all gem slots socketed in, after which the items become orange/golden (next patch we will be able to remove gems from item)

I wish runes stacked. I got six chests full of them. Even though I don’t use runes or focus.

Not cursed, they are Plagued Items.

Devs do have Chest/Carpet naming in works. Should help sorting some.

I'd say also alot of "newbie" weapons don't scale well. You can kinda chuck alot of them too.

Inventory as a whole needs tweaks.. Still waiting for top 5 row to be quick slots. So I don't have to select thru every consumable.

I'd say add a scroll wheel, few menus that have it... seem wonky.

That's great news. For me wands are the worst at scaling, but they get spells, so that's a tradeoff, I guess. Many times it is not even about scaling, but the moveset that matters.

Agree with inventory tweaks, but overall, the whole housing needs tweaks, mainly the hitboxes for placing items

Which house is this?

The Roost
On several different characters I tend to keep interesting items and when I pay attention at least one of each type of weapon.

I tend to put monster parts in one large chest, and gathered and processed materials (lumber and ore, planks and bars) in another large chest.

Then a large chest for runes that I might use. A medium or large chest for gems.

Cabinet for food, and a cabinet for the consummables that I don't want to carry.

After that, I just sell everything. The armor and weapons that I keep tend to fit in one large chest though as I get further along it's definitely moving up to two large chests.

It's easier to store stuff if you don't keep a lot. But if you really do want to keep one of everything at least, you need to have a plan.

I suggest that any crafting stuff be put in an easy to reach spot that you only have to run passed once, the roost is okay, but maybe one of the two more expensive houses. Especially if you decide to put refining benches in there with the storage.

After that figure out a way to batch things together so that you know where you want to put things any time you need to put something away. Set up cloth and leather storage in one house, then Mesh and plate in another. You'll need the space because there are so many sets.

I use The Knot for general materials and processing, The Burrow for food and alchemy, The Roost (the one in the initial post) for weapons, armours, and runes and Homestead and Mannor as the nice-looking RP houses :)

I want one house for the equipment, otherwise it would be too much of stuff everywhere and porting betwen houses is already annoing now (but at least it is thematic, and not that frequent since mats fill slower than equipment), let alone if i had to port just to split equipment (which gets full the most often from all the inventories)

The problem is that weapons (and their runes) become the rarest thing in the game when you want/need them, so you really have to find and stockpile one of each at a minimum. Heck, there are weapons that I want that I haven't found yet after 80h of grinding, barring me from creating certain specific builds, meaning I have to use substitutes for now, costing me more runes and more weapons that will get deleted once i find the right weapons with the right runes i want.

No offense.. but... Extreme FOMO much?

I'm still leveling up but.. I sell nearly everything blue/purple that I don't have an immediate use for.

My buddy who has played this game longer has a suggestion. Make different characters for build segregation and you'll have more than enough storage.

If you don't want to read a bunch of my excuses for this FOMO, then just asume im acollector of ingame items and i need to have specimen for each item :)

now if you want to read...

I'm also selling 99% of what I find, its not like im hoarding every single item.
More characters, sure, but the problem is:
1) While I have more Ichor than I need for now, to fully Ichor out another 5+ characters would take ALOT of time, while in the meantime, i would still not be able to play them with the correct build because
2) How am I to do a new build when I don't have the required weapon and runes? I can't, so I need to find them first. Now, if I sell everything "I don't have an immediate use for" then I cannot make any new builds, right? Also, how am I supposed to know what new build I could make, if I don't even know what all weapons and runes are there?
3) Moreover, lets say I have watched a YT video and want to copy someones else build, well now I need to get those items first and store them, and trust me there are multiple build I have in the que but for the love of god Im incapable of finding the required weapons for them (like Bow with lightning arrow for example) so thats a whole set of items that have to be stored somewhere before i find that damn bow. As I have said, the problem is that weapons (and their runes) become the rarest thing in the game when you want/need them, so its better to collect them when you dont need them :ú
