How finished is this game?
I typically don't buy early access games, but I had this game on my wishlist for a while and would like to know if there's any word on how finished this game is if its going to be expected to finish anytime soon

Damn they haven't patched this game since JULY? GD I am so glad I didn't buy this game. so many scammy devs nowadays. It's insane. Steam needs to change its policy and make these EA games stick to a schedule or offer refunds after missing like 2 marks. It's crazy how little protection consumers get nowadays,

That's why I don't buy early access unless what's there is already a ton of fun and a mostly complete experience or it's a known and well-polished part of their process (Larian).

Even then, I still almost prefer waiting for the actual game to be done... who knows, maybe they will suddenly burst out of the shadows with a new mega update and release date in a few weeks at the game awards lmao.

Regardless, waiting for this game to be fully done before buying.

Main quest story will take around max 7 hours when you split some time to exploring and looking for shortcuts, watching environment and take some time to crafting. But it has Crucible mode <look in youtube> which is some sort of "end-game" mechanic. Story is good and you can enjoy game. They are working slow but now someone bought studio so maybe progress will rocket after some $$$$ will come to they backpacks.

Larian?

The devs that made Baldur's Gate 3. When they kickstartered DOS1, they did early access for act 1 which was also a juicy bit of content like with DOS2 and BG3. You saw constant changes and addition over time and got to see the game evolve which was cool, and there was still tons of new stuff on release.

Basically, they actually used it for testing and actively interacted with the community while iterating and you saw the changes live throughout EA, so it felt like them going this route actually had a purpose.

Not "here's basically a tech demo, we will not elaborate about feedback or your experiences, see you after a year of no content bye" that No Rest for the Wicked seems to be doing.

The same thing is happening here, although the devs communication is the only thing lacking, even missing, on the steam foruns, not to mention the outdated roadmap.

I have played the game since april, have wiped my chars a lot to test the new patches, they changed a lot of things in the early part, adding caves, bridges and enemies to the fort, the nameless pass and sewers have changed too.

I only hope they release the rest of the game faster than Larian did, 2 years in EA i can only accept when the game is huge, which BG 3 was, because of all the choices, or the devs are indie without a lot of people working on the game, like Monomyth.

In the time they've released EA, DOS1, DOS2, and BG3 all had drastic changes and several community updated about these changes and what's to come led by the CEO himself.

And I don't know what you're talking about, I held off from buying the game but I have eyes and know how to read and the patchnotes, few as there are, are more hilarious than encouraging.

If you genuinely think they're doing the same thing Larian did, then you need to take your meds, let them take effect, them come back and repost your hopefully much more sane opinions.

Then I can maybe take them seriously.

I never said they are doing the same exact thing in every way as Larian, the comparison was to the minor changes, larian does better because their games are more complex than a action rpg, their games are more rpg than this one by far, more dialogues and much more liberty, not to mention BG3 had a but-tload of consequences to your choices, and those branching options take a lot of time.

Moon studio has 80 employees, Larian has 420, thats a quick google search btw.

POE2 feels alot like this game. If you want more No rest but in a different game form (maybe even a little easier), way more content go try POE2 with WASD movement/ controller. Enjoy!

How are they similar? PoE2 is more like Diablo right? Here you have way less enemies around, your char can die pretty fast and doesnt kill hordes of enemies all the time, you have stamina to worry about, i dont know but im guessing PoE doesnt, not to mention the loot table there must be huge, like any Diablo arpg.

They are both top-down action RPGs with the main focus on gear grinding and character development. They both emphasize dodge rolling to avoid incoming damage. Both have a story arc about ancient evil infecting and spreading through the world. Both include town trading and traveling through portals. Both have rouge-like endgame content. Both have annoying simps in their community, defending every single aspect of the game and lashing out on everyone who dares to critic "their" game ......

It's probably fair to say that both have more similarities than differences.

But they do also have some divergence:

No Rest for the Wicked has:

  • handcrafted maps
  • jumping and parkour gameplay
  • more vertical map layouts
  • farming aspects
  • town upgrading aspects
  • MMO brainrot mechanics like timers and probably soon mandatory third party account requirements and pestilence system 🤢🤢🤢 .

Path of Exile 2 has:

  • way more content at a lower pricepoint
  • way more complexity

Personally I probably would enjoy the moment to moment gameplay of NRFTW more, but them constantly talking about MMO nonsense like mandatory third-party account, pestilence system, artificial progression blocker/timers really drains all the fun out of NRFTW for me. And them not updating their game in any meaningful way for 8 months now also doesnt help.

they said with new update we should start over, if there will be any at all

Another AI review that is spot on.

The right question is "How abandoned is this game?"
