Characters not saving

No matter what i do, my characters after creation dont save !!!
Devs this needs to be fixed asap, i cant play your great game.

EDIT: I can see all of them in appdata folder.

I had lost my progress yesterday as well. 18 plus hours and my game crashed and lost my character. I tried to create a new one and when i save and exit, the character dosnt exist anymore. Its like a permadeath everytime i close the game

same, i can see my saves in the appdata folder. How do i make the game recognize them? Everytime i launch it asks me to create a new character.

Im not tech savvy myself so i dont even know how to get to the game save files. I deleted the game or uninstalled it from the pc and now reinstalling it to see if that would help some form.

they save files are in AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore

I can see that the game saved my character and realm last night i played cause the timestamp when the file was modified is right with when i last saved it and turned the game off. But now even if i create a new character and turn the game on there's nothing, even tho i can see new character getting created in the Data files. Everytime i turn off the game all the characters dissapear. Literally unplayable.

I lost my character again... :(
My game progress is saved, but my character disappears...
If I create another one, I can go where I went before, without any problems, as there are no more enemies!!!
Plus I have to buy the tools again, sad!!!^^

yea and thats the issue is that i still have my world but not my character and every new character i make, if i quit the game it delete it as well. so yes its unplayable and i really want to play it again but i just dont know what else to do. and it dosnt seem to be a big issue in the community since everyone is complaining on how hard the game is or worry about stuff degrading. while we are unable to play it at all. it just sucks.

i found the fix
alltho my main character is lost.
i found in game save folder that first character save is empty, after deleting it all characters created after the force turn off are there.
Then launch the game in offline and play for a bit. (so the cloud wont overwrite it)

Save folder location : C:\Users\user\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore

In the save folder there are the files with the save slots and also a character file, a realm file and two account files, in this case you only deleted save slot 0? or any of these?

This has happened to me as well, but I cant even seem to find the save files. There is no AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore in my User file.

Appdata is an invisible folder you have to make it visible or just type %appdata% in search bar

Ok so i finally manage to get to the save files. Whats next? Do i delete something or double click something to get the properties open or what? Sorry for the dumb questions just trying to figure it out myself bit by bit. You took me to the right path with this one 👍🏼

However, what you are most likely seeing is going to be fixed in the next hotfix.
In the meantime you should be able to resolve it on your own if you want to try -

Launch the game and while in the main menu
In Windows Exploded navigate to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore or
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore, notice USERNAME is your username on windows
Copy this whole folder somewhere just in case before you start
Look for a file that ends with .dat~xxxxxxx.TMP where x is some letters and numbers, lets refer to this file as the good file
Next to that file you’ll see a file with practically the same name but without ~xxxxxxx.TMP, lets refer to this file as the corrupt file
Delete the corrupt file
Rename the good file to the name of he corrupt file by just deleting ~xxxxxxx.TMP
Restart the game
It should work now,
If it doesn’t let me know and please send me the files.

i had to copy and paste this from the bug forum. credit to the developers. ( sorry dont know how to share links or however you do it, ill copy and paste it old school). this deffinetly was the solution. got all my test character back.
