Directional jumping (platforming) on M&K
I have died countless times MORE falling to my death than enemies because my character decides I'm not reaching for a platform but open air because the ground looks lovely when caving in my head. At this point I don't know for sure if its just M&K or the directional jumping. I have a sneaking suspicion its how the directions work when using keyboard mixed with the fact that your character does not actively reach for a ledge if its breathing down their neck if they can choose to fall instead

Unfortunately the keyboard only gives you 8 directions to go in, while (I'm assuming) the stick on a gamepad provides more nuance than that. I wish they would allow the position of the mouse-cursor on the screen to determine the exact direction our character is facing at any given moment.

I actually made a guide to help KBM players with this very issue!

TL;DR - when trying to make a tricky jump at a weird angle, dont use WASD (like dont even touch them) simply move your mouse cursor where you want to jump and press SHIFT and your character will automatically sprint/run towards your mouse cursor

You cna do the same thing for walking, pressing ALT while not touching any other key will have your character slowly walk towards the mouse, great for walking across narrow ledges or beam

Both of these options allow for proper 360 degree movem,nt (vs WASD which only allows moving on 8 different axis)

Yeah what Throren said. But personally I use Shift for sprinting across beams. Same as in real life: just get your starting position right and move quickly towards your destination, it usually works better than carefully balancing your way across.

Oh wow I did not know I could use alt and shift in that manner Throren! That helps alot, but still doesn't help the fact that your character will choose to fall when there is aledge so close to you
