do all shields block the same amount
i just got the tower shield and it feels like its blocking the same amount as the starting one, do they not have different block value?

No, they adsorb a certain amount.

No they do block more. The number of armor they provide.

From what I understand, shields provide armor when you block, adding it to your already existing armor. The higher your total armor, the less damage you take.
