Two-handed weapons need to swing as fast as the enemies can swing them.
I'm over here trying to swing a two-handed hammer just once in the span of time it takes an enemy with the same type of weapon to pull off a combo with it. Either make *our* attack speed with two handed weapons faster or slow down enemies with two-handed weapons. They should not be able to swing these things around like they're nothing while we're here struggling with them as they leave us SUPER open to attack but even with the most poise possible will *STILL* get knocked out of our animation.

Well the game is not about just smashing x button, you have Dragons Dogma 2 for that. With 2handers you have reach (most of the time) and high damage.

The Claymore is fine. But the 2h axe is too slow. I could never use it.

The two handed hammer is even SLOWER. And you'd think at 30 poise damage and 47 damage it would stagger everything but the biggest boys and bosses in two hits. But EVERYTHING has superior hyper armor to you when attacking or input reads and just outright dodges the attack 90% of the time.

it's not about mashing the X button, why put in the two handed weapons if they're not VIABLE? It doesn't matter if it has reach if the enemy just ignores the hit and hits you through it since you can't animation cancel into a dodge and if you're using a two-hander, you're using heavy gear. And don't get on me about the Barge move, it uses a *ton* of stamina and only really opens an enemy up for a single attack before they're back in a five hit combo that comes out like a machinegun.

im having the opposite experience, i feel like poise and 2 handers are overtuned - am about to re-roll a dex character because 2 handers feel too easy

I'm not, I have the heaviest poise gear on(Sacrement Guardian Set, next one isn't till level 21) and can't really block more than 2 attacks or even one before I'm knocked on my behind despite having a TON of stamina left. Especially from the big guys with two handed weapons, blocking them is a losing battle as any hit will send you flying even when blocked and then you're left jamming the dodge button so you don't get hit by the followup.

I mean this is especially true with bosses and to be honest that's to be expected when you're trying to block a weapon the size of a tree...if this game was realistic. This game has stats, if you have HIGH Poise you should be able to block hits till your stamina is drained. I have 80 Stamina and a shield that drains 8 stamina per hit blocked. That means I SHOULD be able to block 10 hits on a full bar without getting knocked down.

Admittedly I haven’t tried with a ton of poise gear on, I should.

I mean, two handed weapons are HEAVY. Like, 30 units heavy. But if you're using almost exclusively light weight gear, you'll probably still be at Normal even if it's close to Heavy. Not that it seems to help much, big enemies seem to be able to blow through your poise in a single attack regardless of how high it is.

The enemies, even normal goons also do parry and charged attack like what we can do. If your defense breaks in single hit, that means you took the charged attack head on. These attacks do long windup and if you're good at parry, it's fairly easy to do that.

You are not meant to block these at all.
If your poise truly break, your character would get stunned for 1-2 sec like the enemy did if we poise break them, guard break isn't poise break from what i've noticed.

I've got the highest Poise you can get with this equipment, if they're doing a "charged" attack there needs to be some better indicator that I should DODGE it instead of trying to block it/hyper armor through it. It also shouldn't be that every "large enemy" attack breaks poise, which it does. I'm not even talking about the bosses, I'm talking the bigger enemies with two-handed weapons.

Or are you implying they're doing EVERY attack as a charged attack yet they can swing their weapon MUCH faster than we can do the same?

I'm using heavy two-hander build because of how absurdly good it is. ._. Learn distancing and timing, problem solved.

Which weapons are you 2h’ing? Some are extremely slow.

tried adding attack speed on all your gear?

I tried the claymore briefly and just laughed at how comically slow it is. They really need to go back and look at how the Souls games do two-handers, because Moon's current approach sucks. And really, this isn't about how weak or strong they are. I didn't use the claymore for more than one fight and haven't used any of the others at all, so I have no real opinion on that. And that's because it just felt awful to use. If a weapon feels like ♥♥♥♥ to use, most people are not going to use it, even if it's theoretically strong.

I don't agree entirely, but I do think they need to stagger more or atleast have better recovery from your swings. If I do 2 hits with the claymore, alot of enemies will get an attack out faster than your third swing or even dodge if you start mashing dodge. It feels overly punishing to even try to chain hits together.
