No Rest for the Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked

Reviews have gone DOWN since yesterday! Bad sign!
Usually after the "review bomb" of the first few hours, the reviews go up. They maxed out at 63% as far as I ever saw. Now it's already down to 57%. Pretty bad sign.

The jester squad are out in force to try and hide the negative reviews, but the declining score is pretty telling.

idk most negative reviews range from complaints about keybinds to just plain "iT's ToO sHoRt FoR 40 BuCkS" when it is explicitly said that you dont have to pay more with the full release if you buy now. thing is most negative reviews are that dumb type cuz a portion of critiques for keybinds and resolution scale have a positive review cuz they noticed the game is actually good as a start point and can only improve from an already good base.

Majority of the negative reviews are literally just dumb.

Most negative reviews havent really been about gameplay. Ranges from performance, to no keybinds, to other non gameplay related things. I dont know if reviews in EA make much sense anyways. Beyond maybe, does the core game mechanic work.

Yes, I noticed that the majority of positive reviews do nothing but complain. It's mind-boggling. The positive review percentage should be even LOWER.

there is a difference between a critique for the early access with suggestion and a negative review. the dev themselves said to suggest things so they can improve the final release. that doesnt mean the game needs a negative review. in fact i think it should be the opposite given that most negative reviews are bs

i agree. also suggestions doesnt really mean the game needs a negative or positive review either

Giving a negative review is a form of a suggestion. A positive review just means you like things the way they are and it's fine. But it's NOT fine, so it should NOT have a positive review.

And all the streamers are being paid to say they like the game. So they are artificially inflating its image and making people say they like it so they are cool like their favorite streamer.

Also a lot of people giving positive reviews are just fanboys of their other games.

Can it really be called "review bombing"? Majority of the reviews are positive (57-63% positive). The way I see it is that people are reviewing the game based on the current state and not what it could be after 10 updates.
It's fair reviewing, however they should review it again on release.

a negative review means you dont recommend the game. you can still recommend the game and also give suggestions on how to improve it, they are two different things. suggestions arent tied to the review per se. if you recommend it even if you have suggestions you should give a positive review, giving a negative one even if you want to recommend it is inflating the negative reviews the same way as giving a positive without actually liking or playing the game. (also i dont think all the influencers are saying it's good just because they are fanboying over ori)

Its mindblowing to me that this game gets so many negative reviews.
This game its an absolute treasure for me so far!
I think the term "Arpg" might have attracted a certain type of audience that does not match with what this game has to offer.
This is more of a somewhat challenging top down soulslike with randomized loot then your typicall POE-like blaster.

Its mostly performance and i guess because its so inconsistent.

I break it down:
I have not the latest drivers that apprently included some preparations to this game.
I have a 2080, 16GB RAM, Ryzen 2700X and its installed on an SSD.
I have about 60-72 fps in the first 20 minutes playing, with dips and sometimes heavy dips in cutscenes or when moving to a new area (like a new ship deck at the starting area/intro), but only for like a second, then back to 72fps.
I have Quality preset, Sharpness set to 130%, DRA to 70% and 80%.
Im playing on WQHD.

In total, even though i had to adjust downwards in performance and using DLA isnt good considering what i would expect from this games visual quality (not the style, but the graphical load and complexity), i have drastically better performance than people with far better hardware.
I have seen people mentioning they have a 3070 ti but performing worse.

Now, we arent ever seeing people's systems, maybe they are idiots buying new graphiccards but not a respectable CPU to make it work. Maybe they run at 8GB RAM or have put too much load on their PC with dumb programs running in background.
I cant tell.

However, the sheer masses of people reporting performance issues and the devs actually knowing performance is an issue, means that there is some substance to what the people are saying.

And i think thats a problem, because the gameplay, up till now, is fun and good and the game has enough to keep me hooked.
As soon as they fix performance problems, this will be a good run.
But they are up to a bad start for sure, with such an enthusiastic pre release round up and then hitting a nearly negative rating.

I hope they will get performance to the point where they reported stable 144fps on a 2060, because right now, im not seeing how this game comes close to that performance on a 2060 (i assume FullHD).
That would mean my 2080 had to run it on a stable 72fps on WQHD at the very least, with maxed settings and maybe even without DRA.

Well talking about my own view of this situation i cant even play the game properly since it crashes 10-15 minutes in everytime , i cant even finish the intro ship part

And seeing streamers and such playing the game just fine makes me sad ngl but i know this is EA (quite a pricey one at that) but i expected to be able to actually play whatever content its there and i just cant, and yes i posted my issues both here and on their official feedback forums too. My pc far exceeds system reqs so i should be able to play it just fine .

Even then im not gonna just leave a negative review this quick , taking EA into consideration im gonna put a lil trust in this and wait for patches

I haven't read other users' answers or reviews, i can tell you my personal opinion.

The game isn't bad, in fact, it's quite solid but it has several optimization problems and the controls are rather clunky.. and the launch price also influences its rating.

Better to wait for some patch-fixes and if the devs continue to work on it it could become a great game.

Some braindead punk gave a negative review because it doesn't run well on steam deck.
The entitlement is just mind boggling.
