Think about it.
Its terrible design, and I can not believe anyone intended it that way
you just need to run to the blacksmith often for repair.
i think remove durability from game is hard work
but may be will be cool if :
grow durability 10X and add repair tools.
and may be make weapon which damage is high when durability is low.
This is not the case of durability system in No Rest for the Wicked. The system is very rudimentary, there is very little impact on your performance unless you lose your weapon and you can always repair your gear(for free in first section of the game). There is no finesse to this system--you just have to stop by blacksmith from time to time to get your gear back. It is just annoyance, time and gold sink, nothing more.
It is also weird that durability system is applied to tools. This is even more pointless and more annoying as this is not explain anywhere, at least I did not notice. Different type of resources will have different degradation rate, which is completely obscured. Again, there is no intrigue to this, it is just annoyance and time/resource sink.
As far i am aware, in souls only a few enemies had durability damage.
In this game it's even more useless, considering you cheat your own gameplay design by adding indestructible affix.
