Building Placement?
Where do you place your Furnace? Anvil? Etc? There's no indication where they're placed on the map, or information.

Did you get it? I'm actually running everywhere with anvil and can't put it down.

You have to complete a side quest first. Winnick? The black guy from the sacrament cutscenes gives it to you. I wouldn't recommend doing it right away since its a level 11 dungeon. It took me awhile to beat it at level 6.

Yeah, SAME! figured it out finally - you have to wait until after Winnick's quest, you then go back to the cages where the chick is held and it will pop up a notice that "Housing" has been unlocked. So now you can buy a place and then install all the furniture, anvil, etc etc.

OOOOOR: seems you can upgrade the existing smithy etc by donating wood, ore and the like to upgrade them.

Can confirm. You have to complete the quest "Of Rats and Raiders". Just completed it at level 10. Be patient with the dungeon boss.

Yes, the house is just a storage, pretty much. And cosmetic feature, since you can't upgrade the work stations.
