Souls Like?
I was kinda excited for this…until someone said it’s like Dark Souls and Diablo. I’m burnt out on Souls games. Hopefully it ends up being fun for some. Let me know if it’s hard as Dark Souls. Are there any difficulty options?

Only about two hours in. Certainly not as hard as DS. It has that vibe, but the parry window is generous. First tutorial boss is tricky at first but, again, you realise it's teaching you to parry.

It's cool. Fun game.

You'll have some enemy spamming AoE+Combos in tight space with no stamina limit or waiting on the upper end of the ladder... so yeah it is very soul like.

imo i think soul games are easier in some aspects especially the late Elden Ring where there's no death penalty but enemy's attack pattern in this game are easier to read/predict than souls.

I have not been able to land a parry yet. I died a few times just standing there trying to parry and just keep getting hit by their attacks. At every point in their swing. As soon as they wind up, as soon as they start to swing, half way through the swing, just before the attack lands, and just at the moment of impact. Nothing.

5 hours in so far.

Definitly has a souls feel to it. But it is also way more forgiving than a souls game imo. Parry window is very generous. you can chain dodge through most stuff.

Exploring is very fun in this game imo.

Granted I'm playing blind and only through 2nd boss, but feels MUCH more punishing than a souls game.
-No ability to reset/heal up at a grace
-Must farm mats for heal pot mats, not unlimited on rest (which doesn't exist)
-Fast Travel is very limited and not conveinent (Town hub and last waypoint only, can't skip around).
-You have attributes, but you level so slowly you can't address item reqs, weight limits, poor stamina, damage, low health
-Zones seem to scale to you, so no easy farming/back-tracking to catch your breath
-Lot of enemies with shields. You take damage on parry AND Poise. Stamina management is brutal. Tons of off screen ranged attacks. Massive firebomb AoE that follows you. Enemy attacks follow your movement and everyone seems to do 360 spins when you think you're behind them and safe.
-Weight management is a joke, Normal or Heavy, even with stat investment, and you're left not wearing half the armor you find.
-Inventory is tight and you have to visit your town stash regularly to keep inventory from filling

It is definitely a souls-like, but with an arpg spin. I love it.

To me it's more like a hollow knight or salt and sanctuary in 3D with top down view than Souls. That may sound weird but there's a distinction. With a sort of diablo-ish feel to it kind of. It's a nice melding.

it's a souls like with an isometric camera. Really nothing about it is anything like an arpg, other than the pov.

combat is true soul's like

It's definitely harder than Dark Souls, but Dark Souls is only hard if you don't pay attention. Get a half decent weapon and some armor and the game's a cakewalk. This game doesn't have quite the same ability to get overpowered gear, but it's easy to level beyond the "intended" difficulty, so it's not like you'll be bashing your head into a boss for hours... except maybe the black trench lol

It could for sure benefit from some difficulty options, to be honest. The enemies attack non-stop, and you have so little stamina your options are either slowly and boringly chip away at their health 2 attacks and a roll at a time, or kill one enemy and die to the next.

That’s what I didn’t want. Thank you all for the insight. I’ll keep it in my wishlist for now.

Kaufe es nicht. Einfach zu schwer. Macht den Spaß kaputt wenn man nicht gerade krank nach souls ist. Dachte wäre was wie Diablo und das wäre toll gewesen.

When they pile on multiple enemies at once it can get rough I'm noticing. Player character is too slow for that.

Souls-like games typically have engaging combat that requires you to familiarize yourself with multiple weapons and multiple enemies.

This game does not. Yes, the enemies hit you hard and will kill you in a few hits. And yes, you are weak AF and will have to hit them many, many times to kill them. But aside from that, the combat isn't souls-like at all. It's not engaging. You're not reacting or countering what the enemy does, you're just waiting for it to finish doing something before you attack. There are very few abilities/attacks to play around with, very few ways to approach anything, very few variety in enemies, etc.
