No Rest for the Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked

Unlock performance
Anyone got any tricks to get this game to actually use my cpu/gpu? My 4090 is at 23% and my cpu at 28% yet it's constantly at 40-50 fps. I unlocked framerate, maxxed the target framerate, tried changing graphics preset from max -> min, nothing seems to change anything. Any ideas?

It's a sick game but my god it's constantly stuttering / hitching no matter what settings i change.

What resolution are you playing at? If you're playing at lower resolution your gpu usage will be low compared to 4K

Instead of you wading through a million childish answers here is an adult answer. Unfortunately I am having issues as well, I have a 3080ti 64GB RAM a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and the game chugs and my fans are loud. We bought into an Early Access game so they will be patching the game very quickly to avoid people getting refunds. So submit a feedback and take a break from the game for a day. Now get ready for a ton of 10 year olds telling you to get a better PC cry cry cry.....

RTX 4090, intel i9-13900K, 64GB DDR5, obviously installed on a SSD.

First of all it's really weird, the card runs really intensely at 2560x1440p (100% scaling, best quaity) giving me "just" 100ish fps. After 4h of playing I saw it was using up 15GB of my 24 GB 4090 GPU memory lol. So definitely some type of GPU memory leak going on or maybe it just keeps loaded assets in memory until it hits some %age cap lol?

Also especially in the ship scene I got really bad 1-second stutters now and then, usually when destroying a lot of barrels but sometimes seemingly randomly. But once I was on the real map the stutters were very rare, so don't be put off too bad by the boat sequence stutters if you do get them, it may actually be fine once you're on the mainland.

Just make sure you have a GPU with 2048GB memory inf you want to do a hitless speedrun in one take for twitch.

Edit: Recommendation - put on sunglasses and keep it cool. Performance and errors and hardware stuff are obviously on the top of their priority list, so I'd think there will be improvements to this sooner than in any other area. Given the insane shenanigans on even a 4090 there's probably some low hanging fruit there. Also update your GPU drivers, depending on how popular this game is becoming we'll probably get some driver-side improvements as well.

this game went for the record bad performance award, and took it home.

Sounds like a personal issue, bro. Fix your PC. I'm playing at a BUTTERY SMOOTH 60fps on my 4060Ti....

I'm joking.... as I always see responses like this to posts about performance. They never mention resolution or settings, either. You're 100% correct, I don't have a 4090 but I have a 4070Super and I cannot play at 1080p on the lowest settings without constant frame drops into the 50s and 40s and , at times (and constantly on the first big boss) 1-2sec freezes that almost feel like my $%$@ is about to crash). Between that and the clunky combat that's both very slow and unresponsive 1/3 of the time......I'm pretty disappointed. EA day1 or no. This game supposedly has 6 yrs in the oven already, and either way even on day1 of EA THIS level of poor performance does not bode well for the future of the game, imo.

I just realized that there is a "new" NVIDIA Driver out from a few days ago that I somehow missed (from the 16th of April) and it specifically mentions optimizations for NRFTW so I'm installing that now, let's see if there's a noticeable difference.

bros don't you get it? You need a 4090 to play a game that looks like its from the ps3 era. stop being poor!

On a liquid cooled 3090/12900k running 4k at 110% resolution, everything else maxed, haven't had any issues. Make sure in Nvidia control panel you have power options set to max performance, a lot of people don't do this.

I've had it installed from the get-go. Don't get your hopes up, lol.

You must be new here.

I'm sorry but I don't believe you. I just don't. If everyone so far who mentioned they have a 4090 is getting exactly the performance I'd expect (as I have a 4070super and they seem to be doing just barely a bit better on a whole) then either the 3090 is an anomaly or you're just fishing for badges. The performance issues aren't due to the cards being maxed out, either. It's how the game runs. These folks (and myself) aren't seeing anywhere near fulltime 100% utilization of the gpu (or anywhere near that on cpu). It's not like you can just throw power at it and get a smooth experience.

I mean, just look at the top review for the game atm... (it's a one-liner)

i mean, it's not that it's maxing it out, it's not using it. it's acting like it has the FPS locked at 50 but i've tried a million permutations of settings and can't seem to get it to unlock. my fps remains the same no matter what settings i change, my gpu usage will maybe differ by 10% from max to min graphics settings.

update the the newest nvidia drivers for this game.

I want to love the game, but the stuttering is honestly killing it for me too
Pencillus Sedatus Apr 22, 2024 @ 5:02am
I added more thermal paste to my GPU and it seems to raise about 20 fps (it was really bad before).

Now I think at 1440p, max quality, and dynamic resolution scaling, FPS is above 60fps

However it doesn't feel like 60FPS when playing, the frametime is erratic.

After that it is a lot smoother, still has stutter though, but less frequent.
