No Rest for the Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked

Fix the combat
From the beginning:
We need more stamina.
At least higher carry weight to allow us to be below the heavy line and still wear armor.
The range of enemy attacks is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MASSIVE. Make it smaller.
Don't make the fire bombs they throw FOLLOW THE PLAYER when they dodge. COUNTLESS times I dodge back or even to the side and that ♥♥♥♥ will change trajectory to make sure it hits you AND they do WAY TOO MUCH DAMAGE.
A difficult game is one thing, but an unfair/unnecessarily hard game is another.

it's not Sekiro or Devil May Cry
it's more methodical, depending on your build
i think one of the first rings i found reduced stamina usage by more than 25% and increased attack speed, running just 2-3 points and stamina and using a golden/yellow claymore
it feels pretty fluid
game has (thankfully) heavy looter/hack'n slay, almost Diablo-elements; it's not just that gear has different core stats, the enchants can get pretty wild.
think more Elden Ring meets Grim Dawn?
also tried a more one handed, lightweight build which is frankly very fast?
realy confused by some of the reactions to the combat.
i think people wrote their comments, reviews before even understanding core mechanics?
Gotta agree, I think the faster gameplay of Elden Ring, Lies of P and others have definitely made people mashy.

Nothing wrong with a tactical style of combat. It's honestly a breath of fresh air in the isometric ARPG space where everything is just "hit your hotkeys, fast movement, chug the jug".

Loving it although I had some errands and only have like an hour and a half in game. It's good ♥♥♥♥.

Maybe, but when you dodge you move away from the enemy, so you have to use stamina to run back to him, and then you have to hit and dodge again. I think, at least we should be able to do this more than 4 times before getting out of breath.
You don't need to sprint back towards the mobs, it's honestly better not to. Walk towards them so you can gauge what attack they're using and respond accordingly.

ok, but it's not very intuitive for a first run to spend XP on stamina mostly and to dodge into the enemies ! But I'll follow your advice and make my opinion.

I disagree. I think it is fine as it is. This a slow and methodical game not something you can rush through.

i havent spent any stats on stamina until like level 3 where i just put 1 into stamina to unlock a sword...

adapt to the game, stop mashing, play slower, react, dodge

Do people not know how to parry as well as manage stamina consumption? If i run out of stamina, thats my fault, not the games lmao

Nothing I wrote says "spend points in stamina and dodge into mobs" you have a base move speed that isn't sprinting or dodging, a block button if using a shield, and a parry button if not.

Go slower. Use positioning. Use enemy lunge or jump attacks to your advantage. You do not need to slaughter mobs in 2 seconds for compelling gameplay.

Ok, I play two swords and no shield, that's why I was trying to be quick and to fight a nervous gameplay, maybe I should slow down a bit.

Did the enemies scale up?

They completely change. The 2-handed axe guys are now pig faced armor gladiators who throw bombs at you and stun lock you to death in two hits and probably take 30 hits to kill. The regular enemies are now pirates with shields and everyone can out poise you. It's insane. Like I get it, hard is fun, but it just feels unfair the way stamina and poise work this early.

You take damage AND lose stamina when you parry, and enemies just win the attrition battle with you trading blocks.

Adapt. Never do a full combo of attacks, it's a trap. Block/Parry/Dodge -> Attack -> Attack then retreat. Only ever do a 3rd attack in any combo if you're POSITIVE it will kill them. Even then it's better to just never be in the habit of attacking 3 times in a row.

If you're fighting more than 1 thing, hard retreat and methodically do small single hits whenever one shows an opening after THEY attack. Never be the aggressor in these situations, you will die a pathetic death.

If you're fighting more than 1 thing and at least 1 of them are ranged attackers, HARD retreat, get out of line of sight of the ranged attacker and try to take out the melee guy(s). Then you can deal with the ranged one.

A lot of this game isn't about "getting gud", it's about positioning.

Oh no an isometric arpg that requires patience and not just min maxing. The horror.

Would you run into a group of dude with swords in real life or would you regroup? Use your brain, stop mashing.

i dont care about being worshipped, literally play methodically, carefully and level up stats accordingly, dont expect to be amazing within first few hours lol

This is literally everything I was doing.
Here's a play by play.
Find an enemy - they attack - Dodge - attack - they attack - dodge/block - attack - they attack - block - out of stamina/no more dodging/blocking - enemy gets to wail on you and you're dead.
