Nothing wrong with a tactical style of combat. It's honestly a breath of fresh air in the isometric ARPG space where everything is just "hit your hotkeys, fast movement, chug the jug".
Loving it although I had some errands and only have like an hour and a half in game. It's good ♥♥♥♥.
ok, but it's not very intuitive for a first run to spend XP on stamina mostly and to dodge into the enemies ! But I'll follow your advice and make my opinion.
i havent spent any stats on stamina until like level 3 where i just put 1 into stamina to unlock a sword...
adapt to the game, stop mashing, play slower, react, dodge
Go slower. Use positioning. Use enemy lunge or jump attacks to your advantage. You do not need to slaughter mobs in 2 seconds for compelling gameplay.
They completely change. The 2-handed axe guys are now pig faced armor gladiators who throw bombs at you and stun lock you to death in two hits and probably take 30 hits to kill. The regular enemies are now pirates with shields and everyone can out poise you. It's insane. Like I get it, hard is fun, but it just feels unfair the way stamina and poise work this early.
You take damage AND lose stamina when you parry, and enemies just win the attrition battle with you trading blocks.
If you're fighting more than 1 thing, hard retreat and methodically do small single hits whenever one shows an opening after THEY attack. Never be the aggressor in these situations, you will die a pathetic death.
If you're fighting more than 1 thing and at least 1 of them are ranged attackers, HARD retreat, get out of line of sight of the ranged attacker and try to take out the melee guy(s). Then you can deal with the ranged one.
A lot of this game isn't about "getting gud", it's about positioning.
Would you run into a group of dude with swords in real life or would you regroup? Use your brain, stop mashing.
i don't understand how so many people can get on such a high horse as if they're perfect.
Here's a play by play.
Find an enemy - they attack - Dodge - attack - they attack - dodge/block - attack - they attack - block - out of stamina/no more dodging/blocking - enemy gets to wail on you and you're dead.
