DF put up an initial analysis of the game and they showed it running at 35fps on Steam Deck

Runs ok most of the time. Texts are a little small, sometimes white text on lighter background isn't readable well, some keys are not shown (y in my case), that's what i found so far.

I'm about to just take the plunge and see for myself; I've been trying to find somewhere that provided hard data as opposed to feeling/perception based data since the latter will vary from person to person.

The closet I found was a blurb from digital foundry's video where they mention "mostly okay" but "still needing optimization" and "dips during cutscenes". Annoyingly, they didn't have the full overlay up or talk about the actual stats.

In the DF video they show it running at 35 fps

It’s clear as day

For 12 seconds. In a single area against a single enemy. And in those 12 seconds it dips as far as 23 FPS. And also we don't know at what settings and at what TDP.

Update: My steam deck overheated and went black after the last fight on the ship! Beware

I've been playing it on my steam deck and it makes the thing turn into a microwave oven and it doesn't run very well. The controls work fine though.

I played it on my main machine but it still makes that run so ridiculously hot it's not even funny and the optimization is still bad and my computer can run AAA games on ultra settings with no issue

For me it’s more about 25/30 fps. Except when sea comes to screen. Not so unplayable.

Set FPS limit to 45! lower game res, use Steam Deck's FSR scaling.

+1
I had one Deck freeze while playing the prologue. But overall i'd say i had a smoother experience playing it on the Deck than on my 3080ti desktop w/ XB Elite Series 2 controller. Trying different controllers on Desktop.
It looks really nice on the Deck too imho (on balanced or on performance).

It's playable, however after several (6-7 times) tries at different TDP and settings, it still eventually freezes so that I have to hard restart my Steam Deck. Trying to enjoy, I bought it to play on a trip but it does this every 30-45 minutes or less. I've been skipping cut scenes to get to save points, but after losing progress several times, I'll wait until they've resolved these issues.

It's playble with the default settings for the first zone with 30fps with some dips but it’s 15-20fps after. There is constant 30fps only when you stand still and nothing happens.
Also I noticed that when i launch the game it runs ok but after some time the fps is starting to drop hard in the same zones and i need restart the game.
I played for 11 hours and the wasn’t a single freeze.
