No Rest for the Wicked

Frustrated with this game?
Just fyi for those who don't know. V Rising 1.0 official launch is May 8th. Great game to play until they get this game under more control, add more content, more bug fixes and just plain QoL features. It's on steam.

I agree it is (was?) a great game, but it was no cakewalk in EA either. I bought it early in EA, put a good number of hours into it etc, built a castle and so forth, then the devs decided to completely change the way castles are stored (since they added levels) and as a result everything was erased.

I tried starting over but quickly realized I did not want to go through all that grind again. When I realized that they also expanded the server config options to give users high level starting gear and mats, I realized there just wasn't any point any more so I gave up on it.

Yeah, sure, people are going to throw out the "it was EA" but this is a really, really bad way to handle EA. You want to draw people in to your product and keep them - not destroy everything they did and think they're going to want to do that all over again. But I guess it doesn't matter when you've already bought it.

For a game like NRFTW - if they wiped everything I'd be pretty angry (esp if I got decent drops and rng enchants), but I'd still (probably) give it another go. The difference here is that they smartly limited the amount of play just in case - whereas VRising you had the whole game and lost a LOT when it was wiped.

That said, I do hope the release version of NRFTW has a LOT more content...

The game is under control, everyone wants more content of course, buts its EA, got some bugs, none game breaking though and no CTDs so far, at least for me. As for QoL, thats subjective right? Some people want respec for instance, i can live without it.

Me too, but have you talked to the NPCs in town? I think at least two other towns may appear in the game, Havensport, a guard mentions it, right outside the rookery, controlled by a gang of criminals that makes the drug of choice, savor.
The other is Tir, a city to the north, there are at least a couple of npcs that mention it, one in the main square and another guard that says he prefers sacrament because tir is too cold.

As far as I can tell, they always made it clear that there would be wipes.

The same goes for No Rest for the Wicked, just so you're aware of it. They've said it's almost certain they will need to at least wipe at 1.0, maybe before that as well.

V rising never hooked me it was way to simple and grindy at release but with great combat, will give it another shot now for the 1.0 release see what changed.

Wicked however stole my gaming heart.. so sold on this title it's almost silly.

V rising - set custom settings if you play solo to make the game less grindy. There is another wipe happening right now. Took me 100 Hours to fully finish two playtroughs. I did one for the initial release (solo) and another one when they released the Gloomrot patch (solo).

Wicked - Will most likely get a wipe and it took me around 14 hours to grind all the materials (still need to restore 2 buildings) and finish the currently available story. I'm at level 22 not even close to being done with the crucible.

At least i have to say that V rising has much better performance with great atmosphere. Performance in NRFTW is getting better but it is still hit and miss (atmosphere is great though).
V rising has fully rebindable keys while this game added it recently you can't bind side mouse buttons or NUM pad (lol)
V rising even in EA had very little bugs in my experience. Wicked has some UI flickering, weird sound bugs (sound being muffled or certain sounds not playing), constant hiccups when running around the map.

Overall for the money V Rising was and is and will be a better game until Wicked gets polished and finished.

I love this game, I think this game has real potential to be more than a regular great game but a genre defining game. That being said, I play the game slowly cause the content patches if not healthy and timely will be forgotten.

You get a real sense of satisfaction building the city up. And you don't have the head ache of doing it all yourself. But I fear the development cycle for this game. They really should just tighten the controls and bug fix.

Then they need to dedicate themselves to content. The combat when you really start putting on the right gear and swinging the right weapon feels AMAZING. When I hit something with my Claymore and it slices my enemy in half, mid-air some times, I feel amazing.

The game is exquisitely put together, it just needs more content and I don't really know how Moonstudio pulls that off. The world is so dense so and lively it is amazing. I feel like this is the game Wayfinder wanted to be, and just went with a multiplayer instead.

V Rising just isn't as polished as this game. I am really sorry. The animations are lazier. The world is larger and you can build more, but the gimmick of fighting as a vampire grows tiresome.

Dear Lord - VRising is wiping again??? Agree it was a great game but ... no thanks. It's probably me but when game offers the "cheat" choice to start at a high level I just don't see the point. Why put myself through all the grind when I can just give it to myself? The pain is only worth it if I know there's no other way to get it (I feel the same way about games that let you change difficulty when you want). Bottom line is that it's just not an equal playing field.

VRising was fairly polished at EA release, and let you go a long way, which is what made it so much harder to accept the wipe.

For NRFTW, side mouse (thumb) button is my muscle memory go-to for dodge - I was disappointed it wasn't in last patch. I hope they dont do a wipe but as I said, the content was short enough (and added cheaper houses) so it wont be too horrible.

In another thread some guy said that the Echo Knight is in the EA just for testing, since the best gear drops from the crucible runs i guess we are looking at a wipe before release.
They are gonna change a lot if that thing is not supposed to be there now, and as much as i like the lore behind that dungeon, the concept of it is kind of roguelike, which i dont like, i would prefer a hand made dungeon where you have at least a saving spot near the boss.

That's not the reason for wipe. They even said it wasn't 100%. But VERY LIKELY they will need to do wipes, was what they said.

I liked vrising, but after wicked it is really hard for me to go back

Well V Rising is finished, with tons of content and easily a 100+ playthrough, if not more, depending on how OCD you wanna be. Its a massive game with tons of stuff to do, its very impressive and the 1.0 looks insane.

Wicked is good, damned good, but lets be honest here, most of us have already drained the content and are now just farming mats and gear, with no actual progress.

My plan is to absolutely grind out V Rising with my wife, and then come back to Wicked to see if the coop and new areas has dropped, and some more QoL fixes, still a few that annoys me here and there.

I'm not talking about starter gear i never used that. You can get a resource multiplier and bigger stacks sizes that is about all you need. And you wanna feel cheaty you can make the gear or yourself more powerful.
