Falling to death from auto jumping

There's been numerous cases in the endgame dungeons where I autojump to my death, be it because the auto lock didn't lock onto the ledge correctly, or because I wanted to access a chest that was on a lower edge, and behind the chest is chasm, and because it's a lower ledge the guy just auto jumps and jump over the chest into death.
it's annoying and it's very bad, numerous good runs ended because of auto jumping to death.

Auto lock on the ledge? thats only for enemies you know, and as a rule of thumb, at least for me after several deaths by auto jump near ledges, i STOP running near the ledge. Thats if im not being attacked, then i run away or towards the target.
I like that i can fall while runnign like a madman near a freaking ledge, its risky, so is the combat.
