Anyone else like that you can't respec?
Classics like Diablo 2 never had respec options back in the day, and nobody cried.. it makes you take upgrading your character seriously, and also gives you a reason to restart and replay the game.
If I could respec my character and use every weapon on a whim, I would have stopped playing this game a week ago.
Its FUN to make a new character and try new builds
If they do add it as an option I think it should come at a heavy cost, and only 1 respec per playthrough, that way you could make some adjustments on your build but not simply remake the character whenever you wish.

Yes, with the way the game is currently.
I’d be ok with none of a very limited respec per character, like once to fix mistakes, call it resurrection or something

On the one hand it kind of sucks when you realize you made an early mistake with stats and now you will never be able to hit 42 on your main stat and will be locked out of some of the T3 weapons. On the other hand there are lots of different weapons that cross over into the varying stats. So for example there if you want to use a two hand sword they have versions of them for all the stats. INT isn't lokced into staves and magic there are also swords etc. Respeccing would be nice to correct early mistakes but it isn't that big a deal IMO.

You know the difference between diablo 2 and this game? in diablo 2 you could simply create a new character and get it rushed through the entire story and level it up to 60+ in 1-2 hours, does this work here?

You get literal XP potions and can make some pretty OP level 1 gear so yeah, not sure about two hours tho

Get a potion > put it chest > dupe it. It's in the Guide section. Get yourself a lv 30 in a matter of minutes.

Elden Ring and PoE both have respec and those are considered the pinnacle of these genres. If you don't want to respec then don't, but don't take choice away from others. Are you really that weak that you can't resist respec if it's available?

So true, all the weapons and gear should be free and max upgraded at the start. Some people dont have the time to farm them!
So edgy. You must be drowning in pu*** in your mommy basement

Yeah, I believe respecing should have a real cost. Being able to change your character at will makes it feel hollow. I quit Diablo 3 because your character really did not matter - none of the choices you made changed anything.

I'd be happy if they made it easy to respec at the start but as you leveled up it got less & less viable. In a game where there are no classes, just being able to jump from a barbarian type character to a mage to ranger at end game will completely ruin the sense of character.

My hope is that Moon understands that some friction is important. And there will be many people too shallow to see that, & they are going to have to ignore their crying.

Agreed, but these people dont play RPGs, they play "Who can kill sh-it faster", they dont read anything, they dont care, they want the materials to be handed to them, no farming, no progresion, just kill, kill, kill. I hope you are right and the devs stick to their vision, or this game will loose complexity and be more like a Diablo clone.

no and just because older games didnt have it dose not mean its better lol i cant use most of the weapons and have been stuck using the same sword since the start of the game because of the requirements for different shields and swords a respec is a must and devs have said its coming!

so you are using an exploit to level quickly , that is your response? I can't imagine this is an intended strategy.

Just wanna chime in and say, dont cheat or dupe items or levels please, unless you really cant help yourself. Cheating in games is THE best way to stop caring and the game looses its sense of...well everything.

There are trainers you can try that allows to respec, with bugs, so do that at your own risk. They can brick your saves.

Respec im sure WILL come soon, but ffs...dont break your own experience by cheating.

Regardless they said respec is coming.
Side note: D2 had 3 respecs per character- one for each difficulty playthrough.
Callum May 5, 2024 @ 9:09pm
I don't understand the whole "just make a new character" thing. I like my character, why would I want to make a new one? Adding respecing wouldn't take anything away from the game for people who won't use it, it would only add to the game for people who would.
