Devs explicitly state that multiplayer is the first big update during early access. It's in the roadmap and in the early access info given in the store page.
From the store page (a REAL source):
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“The 1.0 version of No Rest for the Wicked will be a significantly expanded version of the initial Early Access release. This version will take into account player feedback throughout its time in development, and may be different from what we already have planned. Upcoming features that will be included prior to 1.0 release include:
Multiplayer: 4 player co-op
Multiplayer: PVP
Expanded story content and chapters
Additional map regions
Farming
More weapons, armor, rare items, and gear
New enemies and bosses
Additional Crucible floors, Bounties and Challenges
..... 1.0 is the official release of all platforms *PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S* Not just Steam. Steam is just the exclusive for EA. and IMHO don't take this to heart. How the game is running now you won't see a release date window prob not until next year.
They do if you know how game develop works, the whole game is being worked on at the same time, you don't do it linearly, act 1 then act 2 then act 3.
So I wouldn't be surprised to hear they have the whole map at a partial completion. optimisation and refining a level for EA is not normal for development, the quality you see in EA section is not something you would see until closer to launch when developing the game, Graphics, polish and optimisation are basically last on the pipeline
The build we played was prepared for the EA, normally they develop a bunch of stuff from the whole game but polish further the part where players will play. Then they take the feedback and adjustments, apply that to their current working branch to test it out, so in theory, the rest of the game that is already developed (that we don't see because is not implemented into EA) is updated aswell.
