Weapons with Str/Prayer - Why?!?!?

I just beat Echo Knight, first time, first-char with loads of stats in EQUIP-load thinking it was well worth specc'ing into FAST roll - Didn't pan out.

To the point, I used the same Blood-Rusted Sword from Day 1, off the beach with Frost-enchant causing massive lag etc.

I've been eager all game to find a 1h sword that would SCALE with STR, but so many weapons have funky stats. Prayer stat being the biggest offender.

Echo Knight dropped 1h sword legendard (first I ever laid eyes on,) and to my delight/surprise it scaled with STR and then to my disappointment, scaled with stupid PRAYER.

Wtf does Prayer do? But more importantly, why are weapons seemingly, arbitrarty trapped with wonky stats, out of spec, out of reach forever =(.

Yes, I know its EA, but theres a ton of weapons, unique weapons in this game -- Someone took the time to design them, and place stupid stats on them, lol... ♥♥♥♥ man.

I feel like it was specifically to troll people...

I guess I'll finally reroll now, another 1st...

Maybe they will add more weapons later, but right now faith is very versatile, i have found a lot of weapons with faith, even a staff, a bow, its really good, there are 2 handed weapons too that have all faith. You can always create a new char and get that weapon from the echo knight in the other char realm.

Yea, i usually just sell anything I see with Pray... I saw lots of 1h clubs and was very sad and jealous I can't use them.

I'll see about this on my new char - I want to see how this legendary sword attks, animation style etc.

Ha just beat the damn bastard for the first time and got the same sword you got hehehe, well at least i got a shield from those chests after him, didnt know he dropped a ichor though, and i could swear my picture changed next to the health bar, he seens more cooky, not looking forward.

I agree - there seems to be little purpose behind weapon stat reqs and scaling.

My same thought, right now those stats exist just to gatekeep each weapon and increase damage acordingly.
Maybe if each of those stas adds some little effect they would feel more impactful.., like str increasing equipment load, base attack damage or health regen a little too, int increasing a little rune damage, agility increasing stamina regen or movement speed, faith increasing focus or health regen... Something like that.

That would be too overpowered, i think those effects could come from the ichor, they should change inventory space for ichor, put that crap on the tailors for us to buy and gives us something else for the ichor.
I like the weapons stats, gonna make a STR/FTH one to use that yellow sword.

Got the sword and had got the same feeling. Created and leveled a new character just for it and it doesn't work so well, we do much better with purple items, but you do you my friend.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking (and how it works in DS/soulslikes basically). The only real "build" in this current EA state is the max focus regen however possible build and rune-obliterate everything with whatever rune you prefer

Yeah, it's a bit rough. I ended up making a second character just to specifically min/max my stats since you only get 87 points to spend and that means you *can* put 26 in each of Str/Dex/Int/Faith and have 42 in your main, which opens up access to most weapons except the pure ones that require 42 of any of the other stats - but to do so you can't put any points in to anything else like Focus, Carry capacity, Health, Stam etc. Level is capped at 30 right now but from watching videos of items that scale beyond that it looks like you will be able to level enough to put around 130ish points in to a stat later.

I hope its like DS and i can level to max if i wanted, never did, but this way i can overlevel the crap out of the game and just stomp every boss till the end, like i did in Elden Ring hehehe, except for Malenia, that bit-ch i struggled a bit, but the mimic tears saved my a-ss.

Well, at least you are seemingly specced for it! Lol, I rerolled and will hopefully be able to give it to my Alt to see the details of attk animation/style =P
