pls add camera options
this game looks very good but could the devs please add an option to have a third person action style camera, for me the far away camera is servicable but less imersive. please consider adding third person camera option when you have time devs <3 thank you.

Despite all the ARPG reinvention claims by this dev, this game remains at its core a classic isometric ARPG. Think Diablo 4, Path of Exile, Last Epoch… Some ARPGs allow you to gave certain degrees of zoom in/out functionality but no ARPG I know that’s isometric and has freeform camera panning (even just lateral camera panning manually by player). The reason as others touched on is a fundamental design philosophy that translates into real technical constraints (albeit by design choice).

World assets in isometric ARPGs like Diablo IV & this game are likely not fully rendered for 3D souls like environments and even if you managed to inject and unlock camera panning through scripting the .DLL file or graphics config file(s), you are likely to find the world presentation completely broken with depth charts failing to work properly, clipping of assets unintended, and likely light casting breaking etc.

The main reason devs choose this isometric non-lateral camera panning constraint is normally a trade off between less rendering/dev time vs. maintaining a manageable render environment to achieve intended artistic vision. You can agree or disagree with this practice in 2024 but it’s as much a legacy of ARPG design philosophy passed on + optimising dev effort/time.

Exactly. This game was designed with this camera angle in mind and they designed the maps and put in systems to support it. I wouldn't hold my breath for more camera options.

Hand painted areas maybe? Like baldurs gate 1 had, icewind dale too, theres no way to rotate the camera i guess.

im not asking for any restructuring of the game at all, just an option added, that you would be welcome to ignore completly... why is that a bad thing for players that want it?.

but it would have to be completely restructured to have this option

you mean the single option on a menu in setings would need some text added, and the new alt camera that follows the player character added, add collision for the camera when it comes up against terrain or add a siloete style few through the terrain or have the terrain infront of the camera disapear and thats it... your overthinking this its not that complex.

no, it sounds like you don't have the slightest clue on how it works

Nope, since the background is hand painted like BG 1 theres no 3D to rotate the camera, its all 2D, only the things moving are 3D, like trees, grass, enemies and you of course. For the camera to rotate the devs would have to create the whole map again to make it 3D and that will take a long time.
Of course this is assuming the background is hand painting, it looks like it, but i cant confirm this.

the levels are made of fully three dimensional geometry what are you talking about??? the art style looking hand painted, and BEING hand painted are two different things its called a filter, its been around since before halo legends, the game is 3d, so a new camera view is entirely posible, so i dont want to be rude here ill simply say your mistaken my man.

Also, among a bazillion other things that make this a very bad idea, the world is heavily 'curved' to achieve vistas and the general look.

In short: It's no trivial addition you're asking for. Also I think it's not what the artists and devs behind the game intent it to be. So if this is not for you you should probably just pass on this one.

so could you name 3 of the other bazillion reasons? also you know what the devs think about this idea already? are you on the team? if so i envy you m8, game looks cool.
