Are late game weapons just objectively better ?
The Base Stats of late game Equipment and Weapons is just way higher and even tho you can upgrade earlier weapon in the end you can also upgrade late game weapon so they seem way stronger.

In Dark Souls the goal is kinda that weapons should be about the same stats wise and no huge differences but here it seems different.

Am I wrong or is this just how this game works ?
Because the thing is I like movesets of earlier weapons but when I deal less damage its kinda meh.

It’s an ARPG so yes weapons just get better.

Seems wrong. Some of the starting weapons can be upgraded to carry you through the entirety of the EA content. Both the 2h sword and the 1h sword you can buy off the blacksmith after you save him in the initial quest are up-gradable to rival some of the end game weapons, and have better movesets than some of them.

It doesn't matter where or when you get the weapon. The thing that matters are the base stats. Each weapon, of the same name and type, will have a range of stats it can roll. For example, I had multiple Stag of Embers staves saved up all with a range of dmg from about 9 to 14 T2 with different stamina cost and focus gain.

So pay attention to the tier, collect several weapons of the same type you are shooting for and upgrade the best one. If you pick wisely a T1 1h sword can be better than a T3 1h sword when fully upgraded. That being said adding gems is a crap shoot and can also make a difference.

All comes down to the weapon arts and enchantments then, some weapon runes expend 100 focus while others just 50, i like that early game sword exacly for that. Not to mention some runes come out really fast, and some power attacks too, like the rapiers.

but for example i have the Festering Earth which has like 3x more DMG than a Claymore.
Yet the Move set is very similar.
So for me it seem the Festering Earth is objectively the better choice.

Is there something I dont understand ?
Do the Upgrades increase damage on the early game weapons harder than on late game weapons ?
Or what is that that makes you people say "Early game weapons can compete with late game"

might be wrong here - something doesent add up :P taking numbers out of memmory

soo u saying that damage of unenchanted claymore with around 40 damage is 3 times lower than unenchanted Festering Earth ? hmm soo FE has 120 damage ? noo dude :P

u not taking %damage perks into consideration imho

but if its comes to move sets - i can feel that some weapons just got some more love from devs - like for example claymore with it high reach and fast and wide swings

claymore was like 12 and my Festering Earth is 31
why is it 40 for you ?

every upgrade on a weapon is rising its damage - soo when ur compering weapons they have to be on the same exact lvl of upgrade

and the level they are upgraded at is random on every drop ?
Because i never upgraded any weapons in the game

The claymores the game droped me in the beginning were all around 10-13

Write to me like im completly clueless because in fact i am.

My Festering Earth has a III Symbol in the Top Right Corner.
Does that mean its the max Tier and now i can additionally upgrade it 3x at Smithy ?

Also does the Tier 3 excatly define its Attack Value ?
Or is that Attack Value still variable even tho its Tier 3 ?

I skilled 42x on str.
I wish i went Dex.

Its kinda uncool that Dex gets a Bow but Str doesnt get a Crossbow

well the devs did stat they might go into a talent system instead of a stat system who knows tho!

atm any weapon can be upgraded to tier 3 and each weapon has a different attack pattern.

now will this change where lower level weapons can only be upgraded 2 tiers or to max is still in the air

the only problem atm is when you upgrade a weapon it doesnt increase the requirement to use the weapon when it up to the next tier! and i feel like this is the main problem

a weapon that require 11str at tier one should be 22 str when you upgrade it to tier 2 would be the better outcome
