Crucible needs some SERIOUS work
I get it, Echo Knight has to be challenging and I'm ok with that. I'm not ok with having to tediously run through all those rooms - that feel nothing else than a chore at this point - just because I dashed out of the boss area and my character decided they could jump off the edge. I have died to fall damage other times in other runs, and it just feels awfully unfair. If I die and have to go through the boring rooms all over again just to give another try to Echo Knight, at least eliminate fall damage and limit the boss fight areas so you can't accidentally fall out of bounds to make it fair and not soul-crushingly tedious.

I've suggested having a checkpoint before the crucible boss that costs embers to unlock. I'm also tired of running through SO MANY ROOMS that are very easy now, just to fight the boss.

The devs have said this version of the Crucible was quickly put together only for this EA build. Moon have said they have a lot more planned for it. So expect a lot of changes. That being said feedback is what EA is for so keep it coming.

Yeah, I'm not going crazy about it. Just rage quit the game because in that room you have to climb a tree and there's 1/2 knights on top, I just dashed close to the edge, got very slightly pushed back by the mob, and down I went, dying to fall damage. I know they're listening and will have plans, but right now it's very frustrating. I want to die because my timing was off, I need better gear, etc, not because of fall damage and have to start all over again. Still, I'll get that damned Echo Knight one day.

I had similar experience there, with one of the firecaster witches. i was using a claymore at that time, charging up my attack as the thing teleports away, making my character turn to the left in the direction of the mob, causing my character to attack off the ledge and die xD

I hear ya. I have died in that spot as well and quickly learned that it can be best to kite them down the ramp and fight in a safer area. Good luck:D

I fought him a number of times now, havent reached level 30 yet, its just hard to memorize those movesets without repetition, it would be nice to have a whisper before the bastard hehehe. Not to mention im bad at dodging and he two shots me all the time.
This guy in certanly meant to be fought at a higher level, maybe 50 should do it, well at least for us mere mortals.

Have you tried using Blink with the Echo Knight? It made a huge difference for my squishy mage and the resulting Echo Knight kills gave me the time to learn it's moves better. Rather then dying in the first minute;-)

Blink needs focus though, constantly drinking potions, im thinking of going with my warrior with 3 plague rings, do those give a lot of HP back? Gonna test it, full heavy weight, poise tank using a two hander, gonna try to face tank the bastard, although if the rings dont work its gonna be a short fight hehehe.

I don't like plague rings on slow weapons but if you stack them than maybe that could work. I have over 1k armor on one of my builds and the Echo Knight can still hurt me a lot. Sooo good luck!

the crucible is a VERY early rough sketch on what they want to do.

so yes, it needs alot of work because the crucible is not done yet

Yeah this is where I stop playing. The most anti-fun thing in any video game is being forced to do a gauntlet of mid tier enemies 10 times in a row to fight a high tier boss that you have 1 attempt to learn the mechanics or else you have to start over from the beginning. Plus it's mandatory for the story progression.

I legitimately cannot believe they put crucible out without a check point once you reach echo knight. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ what an awful decision.

Agreed, but someone said in another thread that the crucible is only here to test things in EA, they are not doing this in the full release, at least i hope not.

Agreed, there needs to be a bonfire down there.

As others posted it's just a early version of one of the endgames. I find it to be pretty darn good for it's first outcast, the most fun i had in this game is when i struggled a bit as soon as you get the goodstuff the game gets trivial and reminds you of the more classic arpgs. However it seems a ton of things will change during this EA it's gonna be a long ride.

Yeah, I understand it was released as an early access. But even the devs had to have even the smallest amount of forethought to go "maybe the gauntlet with no checkpoint for a new boss that is a quarter size of the stage it's on, also locking story progression until you beat it, is a bad idea for fun."

Mind you, this is unironically one of my personal favorite games of all time. Love everything about it and the mechanics; I legit even love grinding the same areas for new gear and materials. I can't wait to see the full game. But this right here killed all the momentum and I just can't bring myself to play it. I'm also just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about this one thing, I really have no other bad things to say.

I know it will be "fixed", but I'm tentative on whatever else they think will be OK in the full release.
