No Rest for the Wicked

The crucible is too punitive for no reason
I feel like the crucible is unreasonably punitive. I don't say difficult, i say punitive.
Cause i can get to the 6th room with no problems, i do one misstep and fall into the abyss and die and i have to restart all over again?
Nah.
I got to the boss, i died and i have to do the whole thing again?
If it was fun i would still think about it, but it is not.
This is a really different experience from the rest of the game, it just doesn't belong, it feels like it's there just to put a wall on the player and dilute the experience in a lame way.

Im sure they are gonna rework the entire crucible at some point, it feels like they threw it in there last minute to keep us busy with "end game", so just hang tight.

I made a similar post a few days ago, a game with a massive potential without a shadow of doubt however massively let down with this version of crucible.

Pointless rerunning the same level to get to the boss room over and over again, I can cheese the boss with focus build but I don’t find that challenging or rewarding.

Please don’t let me start with the fall damage and instant death from narrow platforms fighting shield mobs. Make the crucible challenging not frustrating, this is not a platforming game it’s meant to be challenging and hard..,.well that’s what I get from it so far.

the fall damage and instant death for falling off platforms needs to be removed in Crucible. so many attacks have a forward momentum and if you accidentally target the wrong enemy you just propel yourself off the level. I think a respawn with half health or something like that would be more fair. and severely nerf fall damage.

One of the biggest problems I'm seeing with the game is the core.

The dodge rolls too far, same goes for weapon range. If they shortened how far dodges go as well as enemy and players attack distances it would feel much better and tighter.

Add this together with accidentally falling off something because of how far your dodge went or the windup of your weapon and it gets aggrovating.

touche.. the Crucible statues does seem to have a reference with the story, however, Crucible itself and the Echo Knight felt like, "we put this replay-able content to keep Steam out of our hair and some people busy farming gear".

IMO, and I could be wrong, they ran out of cash.. so they decided to EA to generate funds to perhaps finish development, and they did throw some stuff last minute just so it could pass and be sold the way it was.
That's a HUGE reach, BG3 was also early access for years, some devs just actually like being able to get feedback as they develop.
