Characters wont save!!!

day 3 and still nothing resolved for characters not saving. i was hoping that there would be an update of some sort about this but nothing. every time i quit the game to go back to the menu it completely delete my character or dosnt exist. i really enjoy the game but right now its unplayable for me and i dont know how to fix the problem. anybody going through the same problem?

Not going through the same problem and the game seems to save just fine on exit, but from experience with other games that sounds like a write issue on your install folder, try checking if its set to read only somewhere in the folder hierarchy by checking in Properties, may be inhibiting the save functions.

i checked the properties and the read only box was unchecked. its weird because the realms save just fine i have a few for testing the new characters but each character gets deleted naturally. i already tried uninstalling the game 2 times in the past to see if that would solve something but nada. : ( i want to play and i cant progress its frustrating..

Try running as administrator?

Go to the save file folder. Which is inside appdata/LocalLow/moon studio/no rest for the wicked/data store and inside that folder check if any of the files extension became .tmp if it did just change it back to .dat and that should just solve the problem. I had the same issue

Might be a silly question, but are you getting as far as any of the whispers? Those are save points and before you reach the first city I believe those are where you respawn if you die or log out. If you never reached the first one, that might be the issue.

You don't need whispers to save.

Yes i have just to make sure, been reaching all the way to the first boos fight and activating sacrament whisper to fast travel. And nothing. And yea before all this the game would save midway in the game without wisper

However, what you are most likely seeing is going to be fixed in the next hotfix.
In the meantime you should be able to resolve it on your own if you want to try -

Launch the game and while in the main menu
In Windows Exploded navigate to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore or
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore, notice USERNAME is your username on windows
Copy this whole folder somewhere just in case before you start
Look for a file that ends with .dat~xxxxxxx.TMP where x is some letters and numbers, lets refer to this file as the good file
Next to that file you’ll see a file with practically the same name but without ~xxxxxxx.TMP, lets refer to this file as the corrupt file
Delete the corrupt file
Rename the good file to the name of he corrupt file by just deleting ~xxxxxxx.TMP
Restart the game
It should work now,
If it doesn’t let me know and please send me the files.
