TBH I almost feel like I was trolled as the crucible was never mentioned before EA and now it seems like it’s going to being a focus point and important part of the game. The lead dev keeps going on about roguelite elements and making this a “ 10 year game” where people keep coming back to try new builds etc. They should just drop the “souls like” marketing. I hate roguelite/likes. Every indie dev churns them out because they’re so easy to slip together with proc gen.
THX! Cant`t wait but have to!
Here is a great source for info, he show the update posts made by the devs on X etc.

It's frustrating this communication hurdle continues to be a problem with Moon Studios. People love to throw Early Access out there to justify every controversial decision but meanwhile Valve actually has some rules for developers who use Early Access, and one of them is this:
Make sure you set expectations properly everywhere you talk about your game. Be transparent with your community. For example, if you know your updates during Early Access will break save files, make sure you tell players up front. And say this everywhere you sell your Steam keys.
Meanwhile, we've only been able to get information about the changes to the stated development plan through a chat tucked away in the depths of Discord and comments on Twitter/X/whatever-it-is-now. But here on Steam, where the keys are actually being sold, we only get an inaccurate roadmap advertisement being used to encourage sales of Wicked.
I will defend the fact that the game released into EA like a month ago. There is no way to do updates weekly with any meaningful content added. The update in chunks approach is much better as it has less chances of breaking the game. The real problem I have is with the focus on the crucible. I didn’t by this game to play a roguelite/like.
Fast forward to this year, You have actual games coming out. From beginning of the year till the end. From Palworld to Hell Divers 2. Black Myth Wukong, Warhammer, Elden Ring DLC. The list is endless. The only month that can be ignored is July.
I mention this for one reason, No Rest for the Wicked has just released in an unlucky year. Other Early Access games are updating faster than them. Other big games are coming that are action and story rich. I guess I can say I got my monies worth, but this game is so amazing I really wish it had more content.
Baldurs Gate 3 was an amazing game. I don't even like that top down, turn based genre and ended up liking that game. I put like 103hrs in 2 weeks into it. I was like a crack head barely sleeping before work and not going out with friends/family. I find it funny you list HD2 as an amazing game. After 20 hours the game is very stale. I was very bored by the repetitive nature of the game. This is exactly why I don't want the crucible to be a focus for this game.
I didn't say Hell Divers 2 is "Amazing", more than it is a game. BG3 is a good game but the turn-based aspect and the overall gameplay isn't what I really got it for. I like the presentation of the storytelling. The choices you can make in BG3 is what I think makes that a top tier game, but the actually gameplay makes me want to sleep.
Hell Divers 2 gameplay loop is good for about a month but it has a gameplay loop that has action. It just doesn't marry that loop to any sort of cohesive narrative. I agree with you, I don't want crucible to be a focus. A 39.99 roguelite is not going to go over well.
I was scared about this weeks ago, Elden Ring DLC is being talked about as if it is a whole new game. The DLC is 39.99, No Rest for the Wicked goes for the same price with much less content. I think that is the biggest problem for MoonStudios especially if their patches are few and far between and content scarce.
I think their EA would have done better last year around BG3. BG3's EA process as shaky also. NO Rest for the wicked has way to many games that plays like it this year. I think that is why people are expecting more sooner. I am not saying critics are wrong, I just think there are other factors.
Times have become so dire that people already freak out if 4-5 good games are released in one year.
From 1990-2012 we had at least 30+ bangers per year on average:
