No Rest for the Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked

Best ARPG in years?
even in early access this is probably the best ARPG experience I've had in years. I always loved Diablo like games (Diablo, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, Torchlight) but was slightly annoyed by the OP 5hitshow in endgame where pro players (even non pros) teleport through maps and one shot everything in no time.

So I always wanted the itemization and top down view with nice tactical combat and finally someone has the ballz to do it with all my checkmarks checked.

beautiful graphics (always liked stylized games more than the wannabe realistic graphics)
impactful combat
probably the best map in this genre or the rpg genre in general

exploration is so much fun, verticality is such a nice feature that is almost never used in other games. I have never backtracked to the beginning area of one game so much I do in this game and I mean it in the most positive ways possible. Its fun to go back and search for loot with the changing enemies or boss encounters etc.

so a big THANK YOU from my side and I'm looking forward to many future updates

I totaly agree with Mr.Fox, this is my best ARPG in years...and we are still in early access!!!!

Video games have the potential to be considered art, and this particular game certainly falls into that category.

It's disheartening to witness numerous players expressing discontent with aspects like difficulty levels, blocking mechanisms, or teleportation. However, just as with any form of art, it's essential to appreciate the vision that the creative team have brought to life and embrace the beauty within it. If not, there is plenty of other games for everyone to go and enjoy.

Also, keep in mind this is early access...so more is to come, hopefully Moon Studios stay true to what we have seen and played so far, is my wish.

Kind of subjective though, some people like a fast paced arpg with skill cooldowns like Diablo and Grimdawn, i liked grimdawn a lot. I do prefer a more rich story, and i like the souls combat too, in the end i really dont care about game of the year awards or whats the best arpg.

I like these games as well but always wanted an alternative like this cause I always play melee sword n shield or 2-handers and this combat feels so damn good. It's so statisfying to dodge roll behind the enemy and smash his head with a fully charged 2-handed sword.

I'm also looking forward to Titan Quest 2 but for me personally Wicked is something else, everything fits so well together and feels like it was designed after my wishlist for ARPGs. Last time I had this feeling was with Insurgency 2014 which was the perfect shooter for me and my most played game ever (over 1000h)

As long as the game doesn't start throwing so many items at me that I need an item filter, I'll likely prioritize this game over games like Diablo, POE, Grim Dawn, and Last Epoch. The ARPG genre, to me, is really stale but I find No Rest for the Wicked piques my interest unlike the others. I used to play APRGs so much, so I'm glad it's here.

I don't know about the "best" isometric ARPG of the last few years but it's definitely different and refreshing compared to the rest. Most of the others all feel too similar to me and have gotten boring fairly quickly.

It's not a chill mob killer game like Diablo and PoE. It just shares a similar loot system and the top down camera angle. It should be instead compared to games like Elden Ring and Dragons Dogma 2.

I think the game has a lot of potential, but they need to really up the difficulty somehow. Mobs give up way too easily and some mobs don't do any damage. This is why I can't say it's on par with the greats yet. With patches and the full game out it will most likely be one of the greats.

Then there's also the FPS issue. It should be running at least at solid 60 fps in every scenario on a decent PC.

Agreed, i have made a lot of characters already, but the most satisfying ones were melee, specially sword and board.
Mage is great too, but i dont like running from enemies, same with archer, unless i do a heavy build with those two they are squishy.

I have 4 characters, two of them mages, and the mage with the 2h Icebreaker is the most fun. Love running around in cloth armor, blinking in behind a foe and cutting them in half with a massive 2h swing. Almost never use the powerful OP magic on this mage! lol

I have 158 hours in this game already, the other statement is not even worth adressing, pure strawman, if we were having a argument anyway, which we werent.

I wouldn't call a peak of 150k players a trash game. If you don't like it that's fine but it's objectively a good game.
