I played Doom since I was 5 years old and is probably the nicest guy around, I wish nobody harm, I was still afraid of horror movies and still don't like them to this day, though nothing is like the boomstick in a videogame. What is hurting children is bad graphics like Roblox and poor or the total lack of innovation of games, also tiktok challenges and parents that do drugs, smoke or drink too much alcohol e.t.c.
Still if you found that your children is in the risk zone as how they behave (incel behavior e.t.c), it is best to forbid them things that might spurr their want for violence or hate. It is not the violence per say in a videogame that is fun, it is the ragdoll effects and the exploration of game mechanics, like the yoy of playing Diablo finding the good rolls. Yes, yes.
Liking violence is always bad, though video games serves an entirely different purpose in life as even in a game chess you can kill the queen with peasants or even the king that is brutal violence though it is not real it is just a part of the game mechanics, that is of most importance is that the violence serves as a mechanic in a game of chess and not as the main reason to play the game, sometimes you plan to kill the king with peasants and sometimes you might plan to kill the horses with them, still you can have fun without it becoming sadomasochism or psyschopatic behavior if you are raised well by your parents, have deep profound conversation of all kind of various concepts with your children that will protect them and guide them in life.
Talk about procedural generation of loot and game worlds and the glory of it, that you can always find something new, talk about how beautiful ragdoll physics effects look if they are well made, give different examples of how procedural generation can enhance replayability, that you might never find the exact same stats on the next bow or armor that drops, that is the beauty of gaming. Show them the difference that the procedural generation Diablo 1 and minecraft do have and how it adds up to entirely different game experiences to be had.
