In regards to region locking

Region Block Servers
All region block servers are filtered by the region of the player’s Steam account. For example, if your Steam account is in China, then you will be able to enter ASIA region-blocked servers, but you can not enter NA and EU region-blocked servers.

Will Australian still be able to play on NA servers, Alot of Australians tend to end up playing with NA players/guilds in other games due to lack of Oceanic servers and would be unfortunate if they get locked to the one OCE server when everyone in their guild they game with are general NA players.

Chances are with this type of game the OCE servers probaly wont even have the population either tbh

Lock china/asian together w/e it takes.

No1 want them playing anywhere but with their fellow countrymen so their.... " specific " desire to win by any means necessary cant infect the rest of the worlds gaming world.

not to say no other region has that type of player but per region that area is overwhelmingly " winning " shall we say

Everyone wants china locked :p reason for this is there very zergy as a mindset compared to NA/Euro so there play style doesnt work well with other country play style but i dont think server locking is needed for Euro/NA/OCE servers SA is a bit of an outlayer it can go either way but usualy there managable. china though tend to all clump together and kills everyone else off first :p

To be fair there is people like this in all region. I know some poop sockers in NA who are just as bad as the chinese sterotype if not worse. But they tend to stick to Leage of Legends these days. But I defiantly gamed with people who been cuaght in giant scandals in WoW for being server first, then latter caught in a scandal of exploiting and like 90% of the guild got permabanned for it.

Same deal in Ark I've seen some nasty toxic players who were that "if you can do it, must be intended by devs." Mentality who exploit and cheat their ass off knowing on officials its harder to get banned.

But that said some people in Asia don't want to play that way, some do. I used to game with a guy from Singapore nice dude, very relaxed and casual gamer. But yeah he found out being asian in some game cummitinities meant every one assumed he was the devil sigh. Like had to fake being Australian to not get hated on.

I'm not sure if it's just their use of machine translation or not but the way they phrased it in the announcement today it sounds like there will be both region locked and not-locked servers. So you could probably play on a non-locked NA server, but so would people from Asia and EU. The devs seem to not be sure which route to take and do both. Much like the Wipe/No Wipe issue was sidestepped with the Era Servers setup.

2. There will be 3 batches of servers to be introduced on 17:00 Feb 21, 02:00 and 12:00 Feb 22 UTC. We will open ASIA, OCE, EU, NA, and SA servers depending on the actual server load.
3. There will be some region-blocked servers in each region. They are 43 (ASIA), 60 (EU), 29(NA), 46(OCE), 23(SA).

Seem's like OCE and SA will be region locked then. There is only one server in those regions. So in my case, I won't be able to join the guys I were supposed to join

If I understand this correctly there's 2 OCE servers and you could join OCE server 61 (but not 46) to play with Aussies.
So I think the trick to playing with your friends in OCE is to get them to pick non-region blocked server to play on so you can join them. I hope there'll be clear indicators in the selection screen for this.

They also say

I hope they are prepared to ramp up region locked servers if EU/NA demand for those turns out to be higher than for non-locked ones...

Having a look at their website there is only one OCE cluster and according to these news it's locked. Hopefully it's not what it look's like, I can only see this hurt the game

NA servers (purple): 20, 27, 28, 29

ASIA servers (orange): 18, 19, 43, 45, 70

SA servers (gold): 23

OCE Servers (green): 46

Strange they changed the news article with different numbers since I last posted.

Now it's 43 (ASIA), 60 (EU), 29(NA), 61(OCE), 23(SA) for region locked prefectures. So deleting my previous post above.

Still, can try changing region via steam->settings->download region and try before launching game...

I believe it's your wallet region, not your download region. To change your wallet region I believe you have to buy something while in another region. But yeah, if Aussies want to play on NA, they just need to avoid the one region locked NA server.

region lock has nothing to do with them being "zergy".. its the fact that they all have rubbish pings and it absolutely kills the servers performance for everyone on that server.

So is all pve/pvp servers on Eu 60 locked or only some of them?
