Opening ports to work has always been the toughest part for me. Everytime I think I've done it, it doesn't work! Guess that's hwat I get for using wifi though
You dont need to worry about that with this. Just run the private server tools in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Myth of Empires\PrivateServerTool folder, it has pretty good descriptions of everything. Though remember to uncheck Enable Remote Management in the basic setting section as it will cause the server to loop when you start it up. You also may want to uncheck Enable GM Account as it will make you start the game invincible and possibly invisible. Once you get that set up save it all and run StartPrivateServer.bat. Then just boot the game up as usual, look under custom servers and search for your server name. Its real easy.
THat's what I've actually tried, but when I do it, the connection ends up timing out. Maybe there's some other setting I have to fiddle with.
It has made me tempted to boot up the ol' laptop I have laying around and use it as a server, like I did with Conan Exiles back in the day.
EDIT:
Turns out that 'Enable Remote Management' option is what made me unable to join a server that was myself. Huh.
So now that works.
I understand that development started a few years ago, but I don't understand why they didn't think of giving the option of saving settings.
