Weapon/armor scaling
The weapon and armor scaling in this game is awful.
The next level up shouldn't have double the performance.

This game will not last long if new players have no chance in hell of competing.
Who wants to play a game where you get your ass handed to you for 100-200 hours before you're even somewhat competitive?

Part of Rust's success for so long where other games in the genre have failed is that at the end of the day rust is rather balanced.

A guy with one of the weakest games in the game, a bow, has a small chance at taking out the guy with the AK.

In this game the guy with iron armor cant even take out the guy in steel armor.

Between expertise levels being such a grind, and the large gap ups in gear performance you are just asking for this game to die fast.

Add in no new sales from steam, and this games days are numbered.

So why would it be ok for a guy to grind 100-200 hour just to get beat by someone just joined the game?
It's a game design preference, you dont like it, thats fine, but other ppl like it, cause their grind is properly rewarded.

I could take out a NPC in steel armor, wearing iron armor, even elites. It's all about your proficiency level (HP, defense value, attack value and durability). There are also polishing tools that you can use to improve performance of your gear in addition to food/medicine that make you even more durable. Wait there's more! There's guild bonuses, nobility bonuses, etc

Without enough proficiency, you even suffer a penalty using higher level gear. The more you play, the more powerful you become.... Literally.

Basically if you don't have the best gear in the game you get one shot with a mounted charge..

It honestly makes any of the lower gear worthless in PvP.

Well.... I just noticed that armour has no level requirements like the weapons do. I thought they did but it appears not now. Maybe I just imagined it did. That also explains why in recent days my armour durability has been doing far better than a while ago.
So you can twink your guildies up the wazoo if you can craft them good stuff.

Heh.

I really thought it had a requirement and I expect if it did then it will be back but for now it's awesome.
