killing deer

why does it take so many arrows to kill a deer? i found a deer and started to hunt i and come to find out it took like 30 frikin arrows to drop it that is a bit much or am i doing something wrong?

you are in high level area i guess (if u cant see level of npcs)

I killed a LOT of deer the past days.
(including the message that the deer are +% hostile because they are hunted to much lol)
If you get a perfect head shot they fall quickly ;)
But is has to be very accurate.
And that is not easy with these deer that move like they are on crack.

i have played lots of survival games and ive never seen a game take so many arrows to kill a deer like holy ♥♥♥♥♥ and like you said the way they move is just dumb.

because your using beginner arrows most likely and as you unlock recipes they get better, also you need some points into archery i believe i dont think it adds damage not sure yet still exploring myself lol

You can just run around on the horse and spear (or any other weapon) the deer to death no need to use a bow.

Low grade weapons/arrows, low skill levels, higher level animals = Harder to kill with more arrows.

This game has a deeper skill and crafting system than most other survival games and it must be used to advance or else you'll struggle way more than you need to. You are not going to max out your skill and equipment in a few hours of playing. It will take time.

I use a crossbow. Slow to fire but powerful. I stay pretty much still and they run away a bit and usually stay fairly still. Level 25 deer would probably take 5 hits. Not sure how the bow is but you need to be on foot to reload the crossbow so it's not convenient.

Usually takes me only three stone arrows and bone bow to kill a deer. Aim a bit above it to hit. It runs for just a few seconds. Wait until it stops and shoot again. Am doing this in area with copper bandit mine close to starting zone. I think crouching helps in making them run less far(?) Higher level deer will take more arrows to kill. Around lvl 20 is about 5 arrows. If you are a starting character and you go up against a deer marked with a skull then it can seem like taking forever until you kill it.

trust me sooner or later you want to kill boars or wolfs when you are alone dont have any NPC warriors yet and they will 1 or 2 shot you dus not even mather if your level 30 your DAMAGE is ♥♥♥♥ compared to the AI a bear will one shot you even if its level 15 while yo uare level 30 have heavy armor ready to take a blow with a shield and you just DIE instandly by 1 hit THE AI ARE BROKEN in this game and the player dus not even feel like they are powerfull

its juts the battle of the AI and you need to even knock out ai to actualy train them but guess what i even notice BOARS attack NPC humans but not the player but this is the CATCH

they 2 shot the NPCS like they are nofing but if you hit those NPCS it takes 20 or 30 swings to kill atleast ONE OF THEM

that how stupit strong Ai is in this game right now and can tank damage like a BOSS

I found combat in general to be better when I switched from 8-way to 4-way.

That's because you need to increase your combat skills for attack and defense as without that you will get killed very easy.

With them leveled and the perks selected you will not fear boars or wolves unless you go into much harder areas where their levels are higher.
