So much hate that I don't get...
I never played the original NG, played NG2 on 360, and never played NG3.

So far I do not get the hate for this collection. My only real major gripes so far are the following

- Pretty basic console ports with no options to adjust anything from what I can tell
- I am miffed to see the violence and difficulty toned down considerably in NG2S
- NG3RE took out some of my favourite weapons from what I can tell like the flails

Other than that, I am liking the games so far. Well, except for the 2nd half of NGS, that just feels like it dragged on forever. For some reason I am not getting the input delays or graphical glitches some people are experiencing. My system is quite old, but I was overjoyed when I saw all 3 games runs at 60fps with no drops at all whatsoever, and compared to Vanilla NG2, that is a godsend in my books.

Yeah I don't like the dumb QTEs in NG3 either but at least it's not forced during normal combat encounters. I can still izuma drop a fool, and get that satisfying crunchy splat every single time. Combat is pretty damn fine if you ask me.

I must be very fortunate that in our region the collection is cheaper ($14) than the games sold separately ($18 each i dunno you figure it out)

So far though, as a filthy casual to the series, I am enjoying these games quite a lot. A lot more than I thought I would going into it with all the threads being dominated by people who hate this collection. Kind of like a reverse hype version of Black Panther...

That's, quite simply, good. Enjoy thyself.

With any rerelease you're going to have the OG fanboys complaining about something or other. I played enough of the originals to notice the difference, but at the same time it just isn't big enough an issue to take away from the fun of a good old hack and slash game.

Sigma 2 seems like the only real downside. I haven't played the original NG2 but sigma is clearly a watered down version. NG3RE is a lot of fun but it has some major drawbacks that bring the game down, like all the bosses being bad.

Yeah I love the combat in these games too much to care about stuff that got removed.

Yeah the bosses in NG3 is pretty bad, but I did enjoy fighting my demon self and that lady that got absorbed into the god seed. Those were pretty fun. Also pretty enjoy the bone on steel mechanic even though I pretty much still have no idea what triggers it to go off lol. Don't think I saw the tutorial on that as I am playing it NG2 style still.

When an enemy glows red, dodge (it's an unblockable throw) and press Y/triangle to trigger the steel on bone.

You're 100% right, the game is good. It has some problems, but it's no big deal. All games in the series have problems (yes, even Black), they're rough. The combat is top notch though, there's nothing as fast and satisfying as Ninja Gaiden.

I dunno Sigma 2 is my absolute favorite NG game. Everything about that game is perfect for me. og NG2 was kind of jank. NG3Re surprisingly is something I ended up loving. It clearly has the most polished combat and best violence. But first 2 games had that jank/cheap charm to it. Then again NG3Re does have some problems like lack of variety with enemies , weak music.

Yeah I agree Sigma 2 really is the only downside. Sigma 1 is nearly as good as NGB, both are absolutely excellent games.

I didn't believe people about Sigma 2 and went in really wanting to like it, but man has issues. The combat is still the same NG2 combat, but the encounter designed and enemy balance makes it kind of a chore to play. The enemies are beefy and the delimb rate is sad. Also I the one hit kill grabs make you play way too carefully on Master Ninja mode kind of kills the great tempo that NG2 has.

Master Ninja mode is really the worst part. Sigma 2 encourages even more UT spam than NG2 because it's a strong way survive OHKO grabs and the only reliable delimb in the game.

With that said. It's still fun though. I already finished Master Ninja Chapter challenge for NGS2.
