In Motor Town the objective is simply to complete jobs with various vehicles. There’s plenty of activities to get started with and many ways of tackling each one. Trucking one of the main activities and has been where I’ve sunk a vast majority of my playtime into, so I’ll give a rundown on it. You’ll first choose from a selection of different trucks each with their own unique characteristics. Some may be more versatile with off-roading capabilities, others will be equipped with more grunt and larger fuel tanks best suited for long hauls, whilst some on the cheaper side will be just enough to get the job done. Depending on what work you’re going for you might then find yourself selecting a trailer to either rent or buy. Different trailers carry different loads, and different loads will pay differing amounts based on the dynamic demand of each business within the 2 Korean islands where the game is based. Personally I love the supply and demand aspect of the game as it means all routes and loads have their place, rather than there being one singular “meta” go-to route and load.

After 20 hours playtime there’s so many activities I’ve yet to explore; taxi service, police, racing, wreckers and food delivery to name a few. Of the ones I have tried, not one has been uninteresting - even the most seemingly mundane jobs, like garbage collection, can have you hooked for hours on end. Your reward is coins, which can be spent on cars, motorbikes, go karts, vehicle mods, houses and you can even start a company with AI workers.

Having never tried singleplayer I can’t say much on it, but the multiplayer is great. There’s always at least a few 50+ player servers around and the community overall is welcoming to new players, with remarkably little toxicity too. No voice chat option for now though.

The game is ultimately a grind, so if grindy games aren’t your cup of tea then this probably isn’t what you’re looking for. But if you don’t mind a grind and have a passion for all things on wheels then this is just the game for you.

Fun game. Nothing quite like barreling down the road 100kph in a school bus full of kids, wanted and being chased by the police, while the song cotton eye joe blasts on the online radio.

Great indie open world driving with tons of stuff to do. Actively updated and maintained and packed with more features than most car-focused triple-A titles.

In what other game can you run deliveries in a semi in the morning then have a JDM drift meet with friends in the evening? Organise track days or street races anywhere on the map, recover wrecks and breakdowns, deliver pizza, drive a bus, then buy a plot of land and build a house with all that cash you earned.

It really satisfies that need for freedom and social aspect which titles like latest Forza Horizon and Test Drive fail to deliver on.

First off: I am a racing game and Truck Sim *GAMER*. I have clocked probably 50k+ hours in games like Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport/Horizon, Dirt, Formula 1, Assetto, I-Racing, American Truck Sim, etc over the years. And let me say: Motor Town is an INCREDIBLE DRIVING sim.

Now, note what I said: "DRIVING Sim". This is NOT a game focused on racing, however it INCLUDES racing. If you are looking for hard racing sim, go somewhere else. If you want to DRIVE and FEEL progression, stay with me as I tell you why you should play Motor Town. I bought this on a whim, scrolling through early access games of every genre. This review is in NO way sponsored. bought, or biased. This is a racing gamer's opinion.

Motor Town presents to you a graphically reduced American Truck Sim combined with the tuning and customization of a simplified Forza Horizon and the free roam capability of Grand Theft Auto. In 1 hour you can go from racing a personally modified race/drift car like a Lamborghini or BMW E30, to picking up a randomly spawned hitch-hiker, to towing a crashed Supra on the side of the road, to delivering a fuel tanker load to some farm across the map, to picking up randomly spawned passengers on a bus, to insuring the quick transport of some guy who needs a taxi to the city hall, to chasing some idiot in a fast car in your police car (sirens and all), to free roam drifting in the rain at night on glistening roads in the mountains, to drifting through the desert on back roads that are yet uncharted.

YOU FORGE YOUR OWN PATH. If you want to focus on being a truck driver delivering mass freight across the map, you are rewarded for doing just that. Each vehicle type has a "mastery" level of sorts, and you gain experience and money at exponentially higher rates based on how much time you spend doing that specific activity. If you want to be race car driver, you can rent and buy cars and tune and upgrade them in your own garage and put them to the test on multiple racetracks. There are cars that dont belong on public roads that you can just DRIVE on public roads.

There are houses and garages you can buy everywhere. You can LITERALLY get out of the car and WALK into a bank and get a loan. You are driving and you see a car you like in a random parking lot, walk up to it and buy it. OR JUST TAKE IT AND DRIVE IT UNTIL IT BLOWS UP. You can WALK into any convenience store or gas station or repair shop and buy fuel, quality of life items like cargo straps/flashlights/car parts, and more.

Are you a race car driver? Well you better hop out of the car periodically and check your tire and brake temperature so you don't melt everything. Be careful of the cops, they are a little dumb but with every update I've noticed they've gotten more and more aggressive. Some are undercover, but if you pay attention you'll see the blue+red light bars hidden inside their windshields.

Are you looking for something to use your brand new Fanatec/Logitech wheel? This is it. Fully customizable bindings, Force Feedback, splitter configurations for semi trucks, etc. E-Brake, paddle shift, clutch, pedal, +etc. I recommend connecting a controller and your wheel - controller for running around outside of the vehicle and wheel for precision driving.

Speaking of running around outside the vehicle, dont expect to just roll up to a car with your tow truck and have a crashed car magically pop onto your truck. Nope, manually hook the car onto your winch and tow bar and pull it out of the ditch. (It's WAY easier than BeaMG). And be careful, if you dont upgrade your suspension or tires your truck will be flung across the road when trying to tow something heavy - like a trailer full of Porsche 911's you personally procured and loaded. Driving a flat-bed truck? Well make sure you hop out and strap your cargo down so it doesn't fly everywhere if you hit a curb - those apples or cars need to get to their destination.

While you're making your delivery or racing around the track, make sure to play a good radio station. Unlike ATS where you have to do complicated importing of radio stations, this game has a pre-built list of real life radio stations you can choose from. This is the only driving game that I've chosen to listen to radio instead of my own spotify. Of course, your mileage may vary based on your musical taste.

It's actively being updated (even as of March 14 2024) and the change logs actually give credit to each individual person who found a particular bug and reported it. The devs care, they listen. This is more than worth the price.

All this said - it is not without its problems:

Graphics may not be your cup of tea. But this thing can run at incredible fidelity on a potato. There are optimization options for damn near anything. Im playing on a 55inch tv through HDMI, Logitech G29+Pedals+Shifter and it's just buttery smooth at ultra on a toaster laptop.

Standing NPCs around the map are brain dead. While they do improve immersion, such as when you pull up to a random hitch hiker who has their thumb up, or a bunch of people at a bus station who physically walk toward and into your bus -often they bug out and just remain stiff on the side of the road or glitch through the ground in a sitting position as if they're driving invisible cars on the side walk. However, they are voice acted and will greet and thank you for taking them to their destination.

Now, put more than an hour into this and you will enjoy yourself if you like open world driving games. THIS IS NOT ASSETTO. THIS IS NOT A RACING SIM. THIS IS A LIGHT HEARTED DRIVING SIM that gives you a PLETHORA of features to choose your path. What you put into it is what you get back.

And it has given me more joy than any other driving game I've played in the past 5 years, right behind Gran Turismo 7 VR.

the game is cool! there are many different jobs with various cars. once you earn enough money, you can buy a cool sports car, tune it up, and cruise around the world

* Gameplay is like Euro Truck Simulator 2.
* Missions are like Snow Runner.
* Runs as stable like Valheim.
* Cost less than a Pizza.

As a delivery driver, this game appealed to me. After nearly a couple hundred hours of ETS2, I needed something new. Being early access, the AI seemed solid, the game great, although pretty uniform... Then around the 6th hour, I saw something that just wow'd me.

As I mention I'm a delivery driver. I see plenty of idiots on the road. Imagine my surprise and delight when upon driving a delivery on the bridge to the south Island, I see an AI NPC driver speeding, Upon which the AI loses control of its rear end, slides into my path, hits the bridge before flipping the car and landing on its roof! As someone who's seen many kinds of accidents throughout the years, this surprised me, and I'm giving a 10/10 for realism beyond the already great physics!

This game is awesome. I am an American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 player, so I am writing this review with other truck sim gamers in mind. The game has bus simulator, crazy taxi, law enforcement, and racing elements as well, but my interest is mostly on the trucking side.

Motor Town has a lot of things that ATS and ETS2 players have been asking for for years:

• being able to get out of the truck;
  
• selecting your character's appearance;
  
• owning a home;
  
• going into buildings;
  
• driving a straight truck/rigid;
  
• no places behind barriers that you cannot access;
  
• driving a coach bus;
  
• driving a tow truck;
  
• getting pulled over by the police;
  
• and customizing your truck's (or other vehicle's) gear ratios, suspensions, turbo chargers, differentials, etc. in addition to engines and transmissions.

Right now, you can haul flatbeds, dry vans, tankers, dumps, and cement mixers, in addition to smaller vehicles. Log trailers are in the works.

You can play the game with keyboard, gamepad, or with wheel and pedals. All my controllers connected instantly: a Driving Force GT wheel, a TH-8A shifter, a custom range-splitter, and a clutch pedal I made myself. No problems with controls at all and very easy to set up. We are just missing head-tracking for now, but the developer plans to add it in the future.

This game provides a nice change of pace from ATS/ETS2, and I recommend it for any fan of truck simulators. If you think you might like it, try the free demo. The demo limits you to level two, so check out the guides for what vehicles will be available to you at that level. If you buy the full game, your progress will carry over.

I really enjoy driving games of all sorts. This game is one of the better ones I have ever played. It kind of reminds me of the old Test Drive games (before they turned into strict racers), where you can sort of make your own game with the tools provided. You can take several jobs such as truck driver, bus driver, police, ambulance, taxi, or just cruise around doing whatever.

The driving physics are incredible. This isn't the sort of game where you can just floor it around the whole map. That is a great way to tip your truck or just slide off into the trees. Also crashing your vehicle causes damage to the wheels, engine, and radiator. Overheating is already a problem for most cars here so a damaged radiator is going to slow you down, so drive careful!

As fun as the game is, what makes it even better is the dev. Take a look at the discussion forum for this game. He is an absolute sweetheart who always answers in such a kind and positive way. In an industry so rife with toxicity, he is a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

When I first saw this game I was like "Oh look, it's a Synty low poly asset pack game... AGAIN!"
But I started reading about it and figured out that it contained a bunch of interesting mechanics and physics to go along with them.

Luckily, this isn't the asset flip you may expect seeing yet another Synty low poly asset pack game.

But how to describe Motor Town? Hmm, well- do you like hauling goods in Euro Truck Simulator 2?
Do you like buzzing around the city in GTAV Online and maybe doing odd jobs for some sweet sweet cash, in order to upgrade your stuff?
Do you like having the environment fight you like in Mudrunner and Snowrunner, challenging you through dangerous paths?

If these examples above sound interesting, then I urge you to look past the Synty low poly asset pack models and give this a chance!

Now, I am a bit sad to report that I didn't play this game quite a whole lot on release (could also be that my old computer was acting up), but this game has gotten quite the updates ever since.

Getting new models, kinda replacing Synty's models but still leave em in for the people who want them? Check.
Product chains? Check. Such as converting milk to cheese, and then sending cheese to the Pizzeria or Burger joint for premium products.
AI drivers that can give you a passive income? Check. Note: Currently the max amount of AI workers is 10!
Ownable (not ALL trailers though) trailers? Check.
Customizable bus routes? Check.
Driveable motorcycles, mopeds?! CHECK.
Towing jobs? CHECK!
Working in a region makes the people more happy and the region become more profitable? CHECK.
Racing? Well, of course- but it's not the main goal with the game but consider this as CHECK!
You can also drive dump trucks, like the ones I drove in real life- which is so cool!

And more is on the way.
But this game have a balancing decision I have wanted to see in many cargo hauling games such as Elite Dangerous;
You will outgrow the smaller vehicles. That is a fact. BUT-
Smaller vehicles get a bonus for selling goods due to their limited storage, so they are quite amazing for local deliveries with small packages.
So, even later when you have a greater economy built up there is a point to drive the tiny Kei-Trucks!

I have yet to try out multiplayer, but I can see it being incredibly fun and also incredibly frustrating depending on the people you meet.

Criticisms though? Well, it is a lower budget project so don't expect everything being flawless in the game.
Physics may bug out, sending buses and trucks into orbit.
Sometimes every surface feel very slippery, no matter what tires or build you are using.

And while I haven't gotten to that point, I fear that the 'endgame' will get boring real fast as there are not enough 'credit sinks' in the game.
What those could be I do not know, but right now it feels too easy to earn money but harder to lose money unless fines, refueling, repairing and upgrades are involved.

I also would like to see 'on-foot' gameplay expanded a bit- once again, how I do not know.
It's nice we can buy jerry cans with fuel and coolant, but no portable repair kits to fix up your car on the side of the road? Could be a minigame!

All in all, I see huge potential in with this game and I am very happy to have rediscovered it here in 2025.
It's still early access though, but the dev seem very active and update the game quite regularly.

I'll probably rewrite this review later on release but for now, this is quite amazing!
