Lag and game immersion in multi?

You can organize street racing events using the event system, you can do cop chases with other players, etc. You can team up with other players to do jobs (Party system) or even join other player's Companies/Corporations if you want. Nearly every job a player does will increase the town bonus for that area, which gives a small boost to the job earnings for all the other players! So even if you never Party, just doing jobs in the server helps the other players to earn more. The result is like a "simulated living city" where the other drivers are real people! It's fantastic! :D

As for lag: most things are client side (on your computer) so your own driving should feel smooth and just like singleplayer really. But some jobs (like garbage collection) are laggy if the server FPS is below 15 or so. And if the server FPS is like 8 or lower, when you get close to another driver you may experience physics bugs due to netcode, but not always.

ANYWAY, I have been enjoying multiplayer a ton!! And I didn't expect that!

the multiplayer is really smooth and fairly consistent. some high population servers don't run the best, but if you have ~10 or ~20 people it should run fine. the multiplayer is on a whole other level, though, and the more people makes it so much more fun. the islands are small enough that even without NPC drivers, on a high pop (75+) server you'll always see other traffic on the road

This game is amazing and its come a long way and continues to grow. I dont know of a specific roadmap, but I know the dev is actively working on things.

multi-player is awesome too.. I play on protect the sink serve which usually has like 50/100 which is perfect amount. everyone is friendly and helpful ... the only real lag is when you get a bunch of folks in the same spot at one time... if you are off on the map in an area running a load, there is zero lag

Online been fine for me even in like 70+ player servers. Everyone’s helpful which is nice

How do players interact online to each other?

If you flip your truck or get stuck, another player can tow you out. If you run out of fuel, a player in a tanker can refuel you. Stuff like that

They don't really have a roadmap but you can check their trello.
