Trailers and rent

Really sweet game! If I spawn a trailer from one of the "Trailer" blue thingies, they don't seem to cost anything to start with. If I then do a job with such a trailer, with a vehicle that I own - will I earn less money than if I would have bought the trailer and owned it?

In other words, are the loaned/free trailers cutting in on my profit like rented vehicles are?

If not, I'm not entirely sure what reason there is to ever buy a trailer.

I can't seem to find this info anywhere, sorry if already asked.

Ive found no reason to buy a trailer except maybe for convenience sake. One less step in taking a run.

I buy trailers for my AI semi-trucks. I personally use spawned trailers.

You can customize trailers, and like Chaezaa said I also purchase them for my AI trucks, although it's probably not necessary, but other then that no downside to spawned trailers.

I imagine this is a bug, because when you check one of those spawned trailers, they say the ownr gts a cut, but when I do jobs nothing happens.

Plus, the game sells you trailers, so there is no way we are intended to get free trailers.

Agreed. I feel like this is simply an oversight. However, for now at least, it is super convenient not to be renting trailers. :)

there is the point of moding the suspension & breakes for better heavy load or off roading.
beside that no point in buying.

on trailer that is worth getting is the lowmax, because you can put the ramps on it to make easy use of the upper deck for car hauling.

Buying trailers are company operations, or being able to spawn them in when you are on the second island, as you may find yourself running bobtail a fair distance to get to a blue marker to spawn one, and then run back.
A run that digs into your fuel, and with there only being one gas station in the middle and none in the south, you can get a fuel surprise if you try to push it.

Other reason to buy a trailer is the vehicle transport trailer, it unlocks the ability to run 3 vehicles, and in some cases a 4th if you leave the last vehicle riding it's back wheels on the road.

I hope they actually add rent to them unless your own them. You shouldn't be able to use them for free.
