Large buses do not seem to make enough profit
When having hired NPCs drive my buses, it seems like the 12-passenger ones running small loops generate a lot more money than coaches, mostly because of operating costs nullify the profit.

Bus fares for NPCs also seem way too low. I can run Ollie Ring once for over 100k, then when my NPC driver does it, I get maybe 2-5k. Either NPCs should get comfort bonus from your buses, or the base fare should be higher.

There should be an incentive for growing your fleet and your enterprise. Maybe the economy could use an overhaul.

Olle Ring nets me about 7-8k per run with a coach. Are you not making sure it's always repaired? Not waiting a few in game days to see what it's total is after it evens out?

Olle Ring nets me about 1k profit per day on the Cheetah. I stay on top of repairs and never let it fully break.

Meanwhile, my town buses make 3x as much.
I noticed BIG difference in solo vs populated server. Same story as OP, I never filled a bus bigger than Road Master. I tried on server about 40 pop and filled a cheetah instantly 47/49. So pick the bus you can fill.
