what does body damage affect

so there is engine damage and other parts that I don't know the name of damage, but there is also car damage which I'm assuming is body damage, but what does it actually affect?

Mainly top speed

Just to give an in-depth answer, it essentially affects the "drag" of the vehicle, meaning it will have slightly worse top speed and acceleration. Unless it's a vehicle I'm using at a race track trying to get good lap times, I don't really worry about repairing it tbh.
