I thought that initially as well but I do actually use it. It's clearly faster to drive without it but it's nice if you want to step away to grab a drink or something to just let the drive continue instead of pausing the game.

Also, especially in multiplayer that'll be a really useful feature.

this seems more like "cruise control" to me. i still have to steer. is it because i use 0% steering assist?

I understand that
But on 2 different server, i met at least 5 "bot" players
No chat, clean driving, ...

I'm afraid of player becoming bot

yea, i've seen the bot problem on numerous games. starting with everquest, then diablo 2, followed by Silkroad Online and others. i still don't understand why people use bots. if you aren't going to play the game, why open it at all? it just doesn't make sense to me. :steamfacepalm:

If you hit the button once it goes to cruise control, if you hit it again it will take over with autopilot

I play 99.99% solo

Some places are extremely annoying IMO, like the 110 road (i think, the one in the mountains). Driving there once in a while is okay, but grinding can be boring at time, so i’m happy to use autopilot.

I like to keep the game running semi-afk doing something else at the same time, like preparing tea, or writing an article or whatever. As the game can be quite time consuming just driving around, i’m happy to use autopilot.

I like to capture short video clips for fun. While i focus on the camera, i’m happy to use autopilot.

...

As long as it’s a choice, i’m happy to use autopilot, and again, i’m playing 99,99% solo. You don’t like it, you don’t use it. You don’t need to remove something you dislike, for the whole planet just because of your taste.

In private multiplayer server, i guess option to disable autopilot could be nice for some kind of roleplay purpose. Option to make it cost something maybe could be "fun" too.

I agree, I play solo most of the time as well, autopilot is essential for me if im doing constant back and forth runs, allows me to do something else while it does the run, that said its not 100% useful as I still have to start the journey and end it as well as monitor it since the other vehicle AI keeps crashing into me or eachother, usually eachother causing traffic jams and Im fine with the autopilot needing my input at times, makes for a good semi-afk game that i can play during the day to grind and do other things. On multiplayer I can definately see people wanting it turned off and I kinda agree on multiplayer it should be by default off on the server.

I was also negative about this feature at first, but now I can't play without it.

I often play this game with my friends. However, since I live with my family, I would like to avoid doing VC during late night hours.
Also some of my friends can't use VC in the first place.
For those players, autopilot is a very useful feature. While playing delivery, I can let the autopilot do the driving for a while and enjoy chatting. This is a great thing.

However, if, as others have suggested, you can choose to disable this feature in the private lobby, that would be a happy outcome for both players.

Because people have lives and don't have time to be putting their full attention to games every so often, but wanna progress. It's the same reason why gacha/mobile games nowadays have auto-battle modes. It's common sense, really.

ok, and who's gonna drive the car when you are chatting? We don't have VOIP in this game.

Now YOU change my mind.

Autopilot shouldn't exist? Elon Musk would disagree.
Im writing this with autopilot

autopilot is nice for the grind
erikickes Jan 11, 2022 @ 7:59pm
I kinda like that most of the time autopilot stops about 5 feet from my destination so I have to roll it forward to complete the route. I autopilot stupid stuff like concrete runs, then do police, taxi, towing, or bus routes for more fun stuff.
PS. I thought I could cheat and do autopilot to complete my taxi missions with the Comfort bonus on autopilot Comfort mode... but it overshoots and then u-turns in front of cars and into trees all the time, so no cheating there. Maybe it gets me a 1 point bonus but rarely more.
