for me this was average difficulty
For now I am more annoyed than happy playing it, especially considering it is one of these games where you can die in less than a second if you do a mistake, but maybe with a fresh mind some other day I'll change my mind.
I feel this opinion is quite nuts. Ender Lilies isn't close to either of those two games in terms of challenge. At worst I would die maybe two/three times to a boss while I learned their pattern...and that's if I just used a standard melee attack and didn't abuse the more powerful abilities.

This doesn't describe Ender Lilies at all. How bad did you suck at this game?
A lot! I still do :D
I am progressing, slowly, but honestly there is something here which makes this game harder than others for me. Might be lack of feedback on hit and on being hit? Or fights like Silva where the first thing I did was accidentally use a hammer, and got instagibbed by 5 arrows at once? That said, I generally struggle in games where control of the character is on the slow side, and especially if they have long blocking actions. Notice how HK and NS are both very fast, while EL is a bit more like castlevanias.
Theres some tough bosses, especially in the early and mid game, but your dodge has tons of iframes and its pretty easy to avoid enemies all together, and once you get over the difficulty hump everything else is just kinda easy.
as long as you're patient, and can devote a couple hours to the harder bosses, an average gamer should be able to reach 100%
Look, I'm not saying that didn't happen to me at times. But I just learned pretty quickly what to avoid. Also, how often do you dodge through enemies to hit them from behind...I feel this is key in a lot of battles. Keep close and be on the opposite side of them in many cases. And I'd recommend looking up the best spirits to use...some are very useful.

Yeah but those bosses take SO much more work and are much harder to avoid than in EL...and you have much more generous healing options in EL. I spent hours on Nightmare King Grimm...nothing in EL comes close to that.
Theres plenty of HK which doesnt even begin to approach even normal grimm.
