Breaking Floor

I am having trouble when it comes to break the red floors with Gerrod's hability: it doesnt work from the air. I cant get access to new zones. Any idea?

It doesnt work neither. When I jump it only hits the hammer straight or upward, but never downward.

While in the air, hold down direction + Attack.
You're apoarently just normal attacking.
You'll know if you're doing it right if the hammer bro does this attack even while not equipped, because it's a universal ability.
Bigger thicker spots need more air to destroy.
If you can't figure out how to get enough height in one spot, maybe assume you don't have the resources to do it yet and move along for a bit and go back later.

to clarify attack as hidden writes it is the primary attack (first in the formation) so square in case of a ps4 controller
