All of her attacks are 100% predictable, watch this video if you're having trouble figuring out the pattern yourself:

Elaine only requires that you literally evade-jump into her attack (or below them). That's it.
In her first phase, you can just jump through each of her attack and combo her out of her first phase. If you time your attacks well, you can break her defense after her first attack and ends her first phase in less than 5s.
Her 2nd phase requires you to evade jump through a vertical wall that damages you and do the same evasion trick as in the 1st phase, with the exception of her big homing ball which is now cast twice. (As soon as she case it, jump-evade toward her, wait a tiny bit, then jump-evade toward her again and you'll evade them just fine.)
Once your reach her 3rd phase, it's even easier than the 2nd phase because she ALWAYS teleport for a melee thorn-like attack, hence evade after her usual attacks another time right after you evade like the 2nd phase. She also have a new attack that spawn 2 rows of balls that can be jump-evaded just fine. The reason why it's easier is because she becomes immobile for a while during her 3rd-phase-only attack that follow her usual attacks which gives you plenty of time to deal a lot of damage.
Personally, I find Gerrod 20x harder because his graphics are not in sync with his actual attack's hit area (even being 2x Lily's width away from the visual effect still hits me) and he has insane inconsistencies in his patterns on top of having insane damage resistance and damage output when he does hit you.
But also still dodge.
Tbh, metroidvania's aren't meant for you to beat the boss on the first try, you're supposed to play them, learn the enemy pattern, and then you know what to expect and avoid. Same with the souls games.
In that same respect I thought Gerrod was way easier than Elaine. I did Elaine before I did Gerrod. And when I did Gerrod I had the headless knight. Countering him is both easy and very rewarding.
you can use sigrids spirit (arial variant atack) to easyly break her stance without much effort. i basicall completed the whole game with sigrid spirit and the fungy sorcer one.
I have to disagree. All bosses can be dealt with on first try. It's just a matter of keeping the right amount of distance, which is neither too far and not too close. After a transition, all bosses (if uninterrupted) do their most dangerous attack. All attacks are well telegraphed and if you take your time a bit you'll also learn that many bosses favor certain attacks on certain distances. I haven't tried New Game+ but I haven't seen any bosses feint or end their attacks earlier.
Also if you find yourself stuck in animation, try going for sword only which has very fast animations, good damage and a nice range to it. Focusing on a single spirit to attack can make fights much easier.
