Simply save before the endings and there is no reason to redo all the content over again.
I actually agree with you, the game is fine how it is. Extra content isn't needed. If anything, the success of the game should lead to another game, not adding in more.
Work on another project , you guys did very good , surpassed my expectations
There's reall no need for that, I think. The setting was Land's Edge. Whatever Lily and the Umbral Knight do beyond that is up for your imagination.
Does she lose whatever sign of corruption she remain as she leave, with nothing to nourish it? Do Lily settle down somewhere else? Do the two fight new evils? Do the rest of the souls stick around for Lily or move on? Does she eventually learn to speak (Nothing was found to indicate she was any different from the others, really, so it may have been a manner of needing to be taught. But again, all up to how you see it. You could even see it as the Umbral Knight reading all notes to her instead of Lily doing so herself).
There's no need for a full extended epilogue.
That said, I'd also hate to see such an amazingly well-crafted universe "abandoned", for lack of a better term, so I would honestly love at least one sequel which I don't think it would be too difficult to tie something in, though for sure more involved than an expanded post-ending storyline.
At the end of the day, though, if it can't feasibly be done well, I'm still more than satisifed with the game I paid for. Then again, I also place HUGE emphasis on story (right after gameplay, IMO) so it could just be due to my logic that I see it this way
I sort-of agree with you. I don't think that much detail is needed in the epilogue, per se, but I also wouldn't mind one, or three ;), more adventures. That said, I recognise that's my love for the universe & characters speaking so I'll limit myself to what the devs think can be implemented tastefully
After all, if it ruins the experience we already had it would be a bit counter-intuitive as we wouldn't be here seeking more
Thing is the universe itself is not very original. I can´t imagine there is a single thing here we haven´t seen in a dozen places somewhere else. What really makes EL special, in my opinion, is the presentation. They went for a very specific mood, made the right visuals, hired the right music creators, and... it all just clicked together perfectly.
Without the atmosphere and the story narrated in it, EL´s world is not very interesting.
Well, yes, that would be the context. Nothing is truly original when broken down into the smallest constituent parts (Why re-invent the wheel when it works fine? Just refine the design for a better product) but taken as a whole I don't think I've ever seen something quite like the universe. Maybe that's just me, since I haven't really played many metroidvania's but I'd also like to think I have enough experience playing games that I can tell when something comes off as "stale" vs "unique" even when I can recognize mechanics that come from, were inspired by , and/or were popularized by, certain titles
Also, in terms of difficulty - I think the game does eventually get to a point where it's almost intimidating to play, even more so if you handicap yourself by not equipping certain items.
So I don't feel that a NG+ is going to be thing.
As for DLC, I'm kind of on the fence on this. On one hand, of course I still want to play more, but on the other, I'm satisfied enough to just keep the game as it is. Maybe I'd look for additional features? Like ability to cycle through more than 2 sets of spirits, ability to edit the map to add your own captioned markers? (getting lost and forgetting where to go next was a common thing in my playthrough).
If this is going to be the last of this title, I guess I'd rather have Lily and Umbral Knight do a cameo on their next game instead.
