My experience is certainly nothing even close to yours. I did have an occasion to spend time in Syria in the 1980s and we had our copy of Janes. I remember one day driving on the high way next to an 2S1 which was driving on the hard packed sand next to the road. We matched speed and waved to the crew. We were going 10km/hr over its listed max speed and it wasn't even driving on the road. There is a lot of incorrect information floating around. BFC strives to weed out bad info and get it right. I'm sure they are not perfect either.
Oh so true. BFC tries really hard to get things right. I'm sure they have some mistakes but they also tend to take flack for Russian and Soviet vehicles not being uber enough.
