Combat Mission Shock Force 2

Combat Mission Shock Force 2

Quick battle seems deeply flawed
It’s been several years since the last time I played a Combat Mission game, and I’ve noticed that the same issues I had with the game then are still present years later. Is there a way to fix them?

1. My units never deploy properly in any acceptable formation. Company A is always intermixed with Company B and C. During each deployment phase I’m always spending quite some time looking all units up and moving them but then movement is bugged too - sometimes just one or two units out of four selected will move, causing chaos if I fail to notice that quickly. AI units are better at this but still intermixed sometimes, which means they can’t have proper command-and-control.
2. There is no way to adjust the deployment box, meaning it can get extremely crowded with two companies or so.
3. Routed units close to the map edge never retreat beyond the map. They’re staying there until massacred, or until enough units break that the enemy surrenders.
4. AI seems rudimentary in quick battle - it cannot attack, retreat properly, doesn’t shift its units around on defence.
5. It is too easy to simply artie the AI to death.

So do I, a company with arty, a tank and maybe a vehicle against a whole battalion. The challenge being to keep losses to 0 or at least no dead. It's still too weak.

The AI does not know how to handle QB. QB is designed for multiplayer almost exclusively.

Yea, if you want do have a good QB experience you need to be playing multiplayer.

Scenarios are far better single-player content.
